Kharlberg/Nur-Sultan/February 9 – According to the Senate (the upper house of parliament), Kazakh Senate Speaker Mawurin Ashbayev met with Senate Speaker Nurdindzorn Ismailov of the Supreme Council of Uzbekistan on 9 February.

During the talks, the two sides jointly pointed out that the two sides should effectively promote the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries through cooperation between legislative bodies.

"With the joint efforts of the two presidents, the bilateral strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has been effectively developed. Among them, the inter-parliamentary dialogue has played an important role. Therefore, cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries is of a regular and developmental nature. In addition, the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, established by consensus between the two heads of State, will give new impetus to the development of bilateral legislatures. Ashmbayev said.

The Speaker of the Senate of the Supreme Council of Uzbekistan pointed out that the Ukrainian side supports the reform process being implemented by the President of Kazakhstan. He stressed that President Tokaev's initiative is very important not only for Kazakhstan, but for the entire Central Asian region.

Ismailov expressed his belief that the Ha-U-Parliament Cooperation Committee will contribute to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.

Finally, discussions were held on mutual cooperation between international organizations, among them within the framework of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly.

The President of the Senate of Kazakhstan noted that the commemoration of the inauguration of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly in Almaty from 28 to 29 March this year will bring new impetus to the development of mutual cooperation.
