【Kazakhstan eases entry restrictions, primary and secondary schools will resume offline classes】

Recently, the epidemic situation in Kazakhstan has slowed down. In view of this, the Kazakh government has decided to further relax the entry and exit restrictions for domestic and foreign citizens. In addition, Kazakh primary and secondary schools plan to fully resume offline teaching mode.

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Tugjeunov recently presided over a meeting of the inter-departmental committee on epidemic prevention and control to discuss the relaxation of entry and exit restrictions for Kazakh and foreign citizens. The meeting decided to allow Kazakh citizens to travel to other countries through international airports; allow foreign citizens who meet the visa requirements to enter or transit through Kazakhstan from visa-free countries and countries with direct flights; halve the restriction period for Kazakh citizens to travel to other countries through land ports, allowing them to go abroad once every 15 days; and all personnel coming to Kazakhstan from abroad, whether they are vaccinated or not, must provide a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 72 hours.

In addition, from the 14th of this month, all primary and secondary schools in Kazakhstan plan to fully resume offline teaching mode.

At the same time, the epidemic situation in the capital Nur-Sultan is still grim, and the city is still in the "red zone" of the epidemic risk level, with more than 4,400 new cases in the past week. According to the Nur-Sultan municipal government, since the discovery of the Aomi Kerong variant in January, there have been 83,067 new cases in the city, setting a new record for the number of new monthly infections in the city.

The municipality also pointed out that the number of hospitalized patients has not increased significantly, which is related to vaccination. The municipality noted that vaccinations and boosters are essential. This is not only a personal safety issue, but also the key to herd immunity.

Up to now, more than 9.25 million people have completed the first dose of vaccination and more than 8.82 million people have completed the second dose of vaccination.

According to the Kazakh National Public Health Center, as of the 8th, 9 regions, including Nur-Sultan, are in the "red zone" of the epidemic. As of 10:00 on the 9th, the country has more than 3,600 new confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, with a cumulative total of more than 1.279 million confirmed cases; the cumulative number of cases with symptoms of new crown pneumonia but negative laboratory virus test results has reached 87,212.
