Korean Strait: A strait on the western edge of the North Pacific Ocean. It is located in the southeast of the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese islands of Honshu and Kyushu, connecting the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea. Extending from northeast to southwest, it is 390 km long and 180-200 km wide, with a water depth of 50-150 m and a maximum depth of 228 m. The Korean Strait in the narrow sense refers to the waters between the southeastern Part of the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese island of Tsushima, also known as the "West Waterway" or "Busan Strait". The waters between Tsushima and Kyushu are called the "East Waterway". Among them, between Tsushima Island and Iki Island, it is called "Tsushima Strait"; Between Iki Island and Kyushu Island, it is called "Iki Waterway". The Korean Strait is the "southern gate" of the Sea of Japan, which passes northeast through the Sea of Japan, passes through the Strait of Zonggu (La Piruz Strait), etc., reaching the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pacific Ocean; Eastward through the Kanmon Strait between Honshu Island and Kyushu Island and the Seto Inland Sea into the Pacific Ocean; Cross the Jeju Strait to the west and connect with the Yellow Sea; Head southwest into the East China Sea. Natural ports include Busan, Yeosu, and Masan in South Korea, and Shimonoseki, Kitakyushu, and Fukuoka in Japan.
