FINA announced on the 1st Swiss time that the 19th FINA World Swimming Championships will be postponed to July 14-30, 2023 in Fukuoka, Japan, and the 20th World Championships will be held in Doha, Qatar in January 2024.

According to the event plan, FINA was supposed to hold the Swimming World Championships in Fukuoka in May 2021, but due to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Swimming World Championships were also postponed for one year, postponed to May 13-29, 2022. However, since entering 2022, the new crown epidemic has spread again, and in desperation, on January 24 this year, FINA contacted the Fukuoka Organizing Committee of Japan to inform the decision to postpone it again.

In order to ensure the best preparation period and the best competition performance of athletes, FINA has finally decided that the Fukuoka World Championships will be held in July 2023 after extensive consultation with athletes, coaches and many parties, while the Doha World Championships, which was originally scheduled to be held in November 2023, will be postponed to January 2024.

FINA will soon announce the revised dates for the FINA Congress, the FINA Technical Congress and the 19th FINA World Masters Championship, as well as an updated 2022 international competition schedule.
