Zhaohua seized a case of illegal addition of cyclamate

Near the Spring Festival, the Zhaohua District Market Supervision Bureau increased its food safety law enforcement in the "Spring Thunder Action 2022" law enforcement action. Recently, a case of illegal addition of cyclamate to the production and processing of steamed buns was seized.

During the action inspection of law enforcement personnel, it was found that a steamed bun shop in Weizi Town had 1 bag of a certain brand of cyclamate in its production operation, which was opened and used. The parties admitted on the spot that they used cyclamate in the production and processing of steamed buns. Law enforcement officers have imposed compulsory measures on the existing cyclamate and steamed buns in accordance with the law.

Cyclamate is a food additive, and there is a risk of human health damage when often consuming steamed buns with cyclamate added to it. The parties were suspected of violating the provisions of Article 34 (4) of the Food Safety Law on "food that exceeds the scope and limit of the use of food additives".
