Meet cyclamate

author:Deep look at the special search

Speaking of cyclamate, many people are as frightened as hearing industrial chemical reagents, and many people think that today's fruits rely on it to sweeten. What exactly is cyclamate, and nowadays super sweet fruits really rely on cyclamate? Let's take a look.

Meet cyclamate

First, cyclamate, a kind of sweetener widely used in food processing

Cyclamate is a sweetener allowed to be added to food in China, the sweetness is 30-80 times that of sucrose, the sweetness is pure, natural, no peculiar smell, and the nature is stable, and it is widely used in the food industry such as beverages, preserves, pickled vegetables and so on.

Second, reasonable use is not harmful to health

Many people's bad impressions of cyclamate come from its carcinogenic label. It is true that some early studies have shown that cyclamate can cause bladder cancer in laboratory animals, but subsequent studies have pointed out that there is no specific evidence that sweeteners are related to cancer in people. The World Health Organization/Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/WHO) approved the use of cyclamate as a food additive in 1994. China's GB 2760-2014 "National Standard for Food Safety Food Additive Use Standard" stipulates the food categories and maximum use of cyclamate as a sweetener, which is determined under the premise of strict risk assessment and safety, and there is no harm to the body in accordance with the standard specifications.

Third, use cyclamate to sweeten the fruit?

Some people say that many fruits need to be beaten with cyclamate to ensure sweetness, such as watermelon, orange, grapefruit, orange, etc., is this true?

First of all, according to GB 2760-2014 "National Standard for Food Safety" Standard for the Use of Food Additives, cyclamate cannot be added to fresh fruit, and it is illegal to use cyclamate in fresh fruit. In addition, applying or injecting cyclamate to the fruit does not have an impact on the sweetness of the fruit. Cyclamate has a large water solubility, and oranges, grapefruit, oranges and other fruits have a thick and oily skin, and it is difficult to attach and penetrate the surface of the cyclamate; if it is sweetened by injection, it is necessary to inject the fruit in all directions, which will cause the cell wall of the fruit to be destroyed and accelerate the decay of the fruit. Therefore, injecting fruit with cyclamate is harmful and non-beneficial, and the vendor does not have to do this.

  Fourth, consumption advice

Rationally look at cyclamate, and rational use according to norms is not harmful to health. In fact, the substitution effect of sweeteners such as cyclamate is also beneficial, because the calories it provides are much lower than sucrose, and can even be ignored, so it can satisfy people's cravings for sweets, and can avoid chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes caused by excessive energy intake, which can be described as sweet and unburdened.

For consumers who are fond of sweets, especially diabetics, it is recommended that on the basis of a reasonable diet, balanced nutrition, and control of total energy intake, you can choose to replace some or all of the added sugar foods with sweeteners.
