On January 12, German premium car manufacturer BMW announced its sales volume in the Chinese market in 2021: BMW and MINI brands delivered a total of 846,237 new cars, an increase of 8.9% year-on-year.

Among them, the sales of new energy models exceeded 48,000 units, an increase of 69.6% year-on-year, and the star model BMW iX3 delivered 21,000 units in the first full sales year. Since 2014, the BMW Group has delivered a total of 140,000 new energy vehicles to the Chinese market.

In terms of fuel vehicles, BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and X3 all sold more than 150,000 units in the whole year, and BMW 4 Series sold more than 10,000 units, an increase of 109.7% year-on-year. BMW X5 sales exceeded 50,000 units for the first time, and BMW X7 sales exceeded 10,000 units.

The MINI brand delivered 30,546 new vehicles in the whole year, an increase of 5.2% year-on-year. High-performance sub-brand BMW M delivered 38.9% year-over-year for the year.

In this regard, Gao Le, President and CEO of BMW Group Greater China, said, "In the future, BMW will continue to take China as its home, and develop in the same frequency and coordinated development with China's economy and society, especially to increase its efforts to promote the electrification process." ”

Old rival Mercedes-Benz sold 758,863 units in the Chinese market, down 2% year-on-year and 87,374 units less than BMW. Audi's sales in the Chinese market were 701,289 units, down 3.6% year-on-year and 144,948 units less than BMW.

This year, the BMW Group will introduce seven new energy models to the Chinese market, including BMW iX, i4, iX3, pure electric 3 series new i3, pure electric 7 series i7 and 2 plug-in hybrid models.

By 2025, the BMW Group will launch a "new generation" of models with a completely redesigned software architecture, an electrical and electronic architecture, and many more sustainable materials.

By 2030, the BMW Group will deliver a total of 10 million pure electric vehicles worldwide, and mini and Rolls-Royce brands will enter the era of full electrification.

In terms of global aggregates, the BMW Group delivered a total of 2,521,525 new cars, 2,213,795 under the BMW brand, 302,144 units under the MINI brand and 5,586 rolls-Royce units.

Among them, 328,316 are electrified models and 103,855 pure electric models.

In terms of regional markets, a total of 948,087 units were delivered in the European market and 267,917 units were delivered in the German domestic market. 1,065,141 units were delivered in the Asian market. 450,062 units were delivered in the Americas and 366,574 units were delivered in the U.S. market.

Mercedes-Benz sold 2.093 million units worldwide in 2021 and Audi sold 1.68 million units worldwide.

As a result, the BMW Group won the double sales championship in the Chinese market and the high-end car market in the global market, which is the first time since 2016 that the BMW Group's global sales volume has returned to the first place.
