The TNGA family has added another member: Weisa is listed, and GAC Toyota wants to hit the target of millions of vehicles

As a sister model of FAW Toyota Rover Harrier, Wesa will compete directly with models such as Honda Guandao and Buick ENCORE PLUS.

Based on Toyota's new TNGA architecture, wesa adopts the "Refined-tech Simplicity" design concept, which is more elegant overall, with a body length and width of 4780mm/1855mm/1660mm and a wheelbase of 2690mm. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with two major powertrains, 2.0L and 2.5L HEV, both of which are available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions.

Among them, the 2.0L model adopts a 2.0L Dynamic Force engine, which matches the simulated 10-speed Direct Shift-CVT gearbox, and the fuel consumption of 100 km in comprehensive working conditions (NEDC) is 5.9L; the 2.5L dual-engine model adopts the new fourth-generation THSII. Toyota hybrid system, and the TNGA 2.5L Dynamic Force engine matches the new generation of E-CVT electronic continuously variable speed transmission system. Officials say that its comprehensive working condition (NEDC) 100 km fuel consumption is 4.5L, and the cruising range reaches more than 1,000 km.

In terms of intelligence, the new car has introduced the "Fengyun Yuexiang" Intelligent Travel Interconnection Service, which can realize the remote control of the vehicle by mobile phone, vehicle condition inquiry, vehicle positioning and other services. At the same time, Wesa is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (Toyota Collision Avoidance Assistance Kit), including PCS Pre-Collision Safety System, DRCC Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, LTA Lane Track Assist System and AHB Automatic Adjustment High Beam System, which can achieve L2 level automatic driving.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2022, GAC Toyota has frequently dropped its seeds and released two models within a week: on January 6, Fenglanda entered the compact SUV market at a low price, with a price range of 125,800-169,800 yuan, filling the market gap between C-HR and Willanda; the mid-size SUV Wesa was listed, targeting the product gap between Willanda and Highlander.

Behind the acceleration of product introduction, GAC Toyota plans to challenge annual sales of 1 million units in 2022 (the 18th anniversary of its establishment) and accelerate its move towards the head camp of joint ventures. According to the 2021 production and sales data released by GAC Toyota a few days ago, the cumulative sales of all GAC Toyota models in 2021 will be 840,300 units, an increase of 11% year-on-year, and 160,000 units away from the annual sales target of one million units. This means that GAC Toyota will achieve at least 19% year-on-year growth rate this year, but with the recurrence of the global epidemic, chip shortages and other potential risks in the supply chain, annual sales of one million is a big challenge for GAC Toyota.

Some people believe that the advantages of GAC Toyota's TNGA system are an important reason for its sales growth in 2021. According to official data, GAC Toyota's TNGA model will sell about 665,000 units in 2021, accounting for 79% of GAC Toyota's overall sales. In fact, in recent years, the sales volume of TNGA architecture models has continued to increase in the overall sales of GAC Toyota, with 30%, 56%, 71% and 79% respectively from 2018 to 2021.

GAC Toyota officially said that with the official listing of Fenglanda and Weisa, GAC Toyota's product matrix has been further improved, and a "pyramid" layout of SUV high-value products has been established with Highlander as the head, Weisa and Veranda as the backbone, and Fenglanda and C-HR as the base plate.

In addition, GAC Toyota accelerated its capacity expansion, and in July last year, the first phase of gac Toyota's new energy vehicle production capacity expansion project was officially put into operation in Nansha District, Guangzhou, and it is expected to release production capacity of 200,000 units per year, which will be completed and put into operation this year, providing a guarantee for the impact of annual sales of one million vehicles.
