After liberating Taiyuan, Xu Xiangqian instructed General Topeng: Find Dai Bingnan, live to see people, and die to see corpses

In March 1949, with the successive victories of the "three major battles", the People's Liberation Army had only one last goal left in north China- to launch a general offensive against Taiyuan, which had been besieged for five months. Taiyuan has been a military powerhouse since ancient times, Yan Xishan has been operating in Shanxi for 38 years, Taiyuan is an economic center and an important military production base. In five months, the People's Liberation Army paid a huge price of casualties, and finally pulled out all the strongholds around Taiyuan, turning Taiyuan into an isolated city, and liberation was just around the corner.

However, Xu Xiangqian, the commander-in-chief of the Taiyuan siege, fell ill at this time, and in desperation, the Central Military Commission made adjustments and transferred Peng Dehuai, deputy commander-in-chief of the People's Liberation Army and commander of Yiye, as the commander-in-chief of the Taiyuan Campaign.

On March 28, Xu Xiangqian and Peng Dehuai made a handover at the front. Before leaving, Xu Xiangqian said to Peng Dehuai:

General Manager Peng, taiyuan liberation, please be sure to take Dai Bingnan, dig three feet into the ground to find him. The chairman made a special explanation that he should see people in life and corpses in death.

Peng Dehuai replied: "Rest assured! ”

Who is Dai Bingnan? Why did Chairman Mao let him be so "worried" that Xu Zong dug three feet into the ground to find him?

Plotted against Huang Qiao Song and planned an uprising

Dai Bingnan, a native of Jimo, Shandong, was born in the Army, and his father Dai Xianbin served under Duan Qirui and later followed Yan Xishan. With the help of his father, Dai Bingnan entered the Northwest Officers School to study military affairs, and after graduation, he followed the general of the Northwest Army, Huang Qiaosong, who was born and died for more than ten years, and won the trust of Huang Qiaosong, and gradually promoted him from battalion commander to division commander, which can be called the right hand and left arm.

Huang Qiaosong was a patriotic general, and after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he led his troops to participate in important battles such as Niangziguan, the Battle of Xuzhou, and the Battle of Wuhan. Before the troops were pulled out, he wrote in a letter to his wife:

This time, when he goes north, he will fight a decisive battle with the Japanese, he will not die, it is my death, and the last moment is today!

"During the Battle of Taierzhuang, the famous poet Zang Kejia visited him on the front line and presented him with a national flag. Huang Qiaosong took the national flag and said sadly:

The position is there, I am there, the position is lost, I am dead, and this national flag is the most glorious golden coffin of the soldiers

!”

During the second Kuomintang-Communist cooperation, Huang Qiaosong took the initiative to contact Chen Yi and Su Yu and told him that the New Fourth Army could pass through his defensive zone at any time, that he would never do anything to harm friendly troops, and that he also said to the soldiers of the New Fourth Army who passed by: ""

When you come to Yan'an in the future, please tell Chairman Mao that I will take the road of Yan'an in the future

。 ”

Battle of Taiyuan

In 1945, Chiang Kai-shek gathered the strength of four armies to launch an attack on the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Liberation Army, and Huang Qiaosong's 30th Army was also one of them. In this battle, Huang Qiaosong's troops suffered heavy losses, and it was at this time that his old superior, Gao Shuxun, the commander of the New Eighth Army, led an uprising and became a member of the People's Liberation Army. Huang QiaoSong admired Gao Shuxun's courage, but never took that step. It was not until 1948, when he was transferred to Taiyuan, that he had the opportunity to make contact with the People's Liberation Army again.

The arrival of Huang Qiaosong and the 30th Army was undoubtedly a life-saving straw for Yan Xishan, who specially instructed the 30th Army to enjoy the same living treatment as the remnants of the Japanese army, and also privately handed Huang Qiaosong ten gold bars to encourage him to bravely fight with the People's Liberation Army. However, after several battles, Huang Qiaosong could not bear the pain of Chinese fighting Chinese, and he had the intention of abandoning the dark and casting light.

After Xu Xiangqian learned of Huang Qiaosong's movements, he immediately invited Gao Shuxun to help huang Qiaosong's work. Gao Shuxun wrote a letter to Huang Qiaosong, pointing out that Chiang Kai-shek had betrayed his faith and provoked a civil war, and now that the situation was precarious, there would be no uprising at this time, and when would it be long? Gao Shuxun also added a special note at the end of the letter:

After the uprising, your unit retained its original name and cooperated with the People's Liberation Army to capture Yan Xishan alive, which was the greatest contribution to the people of Shanxi.

Huang Qiaosong was very excited after receiving the letter, and while sending liaison personnel to get in touch with the People's Liberation Army, he prepared for the uprising, and decided to consult with his confidant, Dai Bingnan, commander of the 27th Division of the 30th Army, about the uprising process.

Dai Bingnan

Betrayed by his subordinates, heroic and righteous

From 1932 to 1948, when the Battle of Taiyuan began, Dai Bingnan followed Huang Qiaosong for sixteen years and was Huang Qiaosong's most trusted capable general. He approached Dai Binnan, showed him Gao Shuxun's letter, and said, ".

General Gao Shuxun went one step ahead of us, Taiyuan could not be defended sooner or later, it was better for us to emulate General Gao and lead the army to revolt, how is it better than waiting for death in this isolated city!

Dai Bingnan said reluctantly: "Junza, once the news of the uprising is spread, but the matter of losing your head, you must think twice!" ”

Huang Qiaosong was a little annoyed to hear, "Can I take my brothers to the fire pit?" If you don't believe me, then go to Yan Xishan and report me!" ”

Dai Bingnan hurriedly said, "I don't mean that." ”

In fact, Dai Bingnan has his own little nine-nine in his heart, he is proud of his strong ability, he has long coveted the position of commander of Huang Qiaosong, and if Huang Qiaofu does not retreat, he will not have a day out.

What's more, he had a very good personal relationship with Yan Xishan, often receiving some favors from Yan Xishan, and simply agreed to come down and support the Huang Woodman Rebellion. But in secret, there was already a calculation.

Xu Xiangqian

On October 30, 1948, Huang Wufu asked the liaison officer to find the People's Liberation Army outside the city with his handwritten letter and met Xu Xiangqian, the commander-in-chief of the siege. In his letter, The Yellow Woodman said:

Commander Xu, in order to save the 300,000 people of Taiyuan from water and fire, I have decided to revolt and stand in the ranks of the People's Liberation Army

。 Xu Xiangqian immediately instructed Jin Fu, chief of staff of the military sub-district, and Zhai Xuyou, chief of the reconnaissance chief of staff, as representatives of the Platon Army, to secretly contact Huang Shufu to prepare for the uprising.

On the other hand, after Dai Bingnan returned to the garrison, he found his brother, the deputy commander of the 27th Division

He told him what had happened. Dai Bingnan tempted Shu Dehou: "For the sake of the present, there are only three ways to choose, one is to follow the uprising of the military seat, one is to commit suicide, and the other is to inform." ”

"I am a hero of the National Army who has won three medals, and I must not revolt, and besides, let me commit suicide, why should I?" ”

Dai Bingnan understood what Shu Dehou meant and said, "So, let's inform Chief Yan?" ”

He nodded and said yes, so the two conspired.

Pan Derong

Yan Xishan was shocked to learn that Huang Qiaosong was going to revolt, so he sent his messengers to the headquarters of the 30th Army that night, and in the name of holding a military conference, he took Huang Qiaosong to the Appeasement Office and trapped Huang Qiaosong. Huang QiaoSong knew that the matter was irretrievable, and said indignantly: "The good man does things alone and does things alone, this matter has nothing to do with other people, if you want to kill, you must listen to the honor." ”

Soon after, Huang Qiaosong, Jin Fu, and others were escorted to Nanjing, where they were tried by the Special Court of the Ministry of National Defense in Nanjing and sentenced to death. In late November, Huang Qiaosong, Jinfu, and others were taken to the execution site and executed by firing squad.

Before their execution, Huang Qiaosong and Jin Fu shouted ,"Long live Chairman Mao!" ", heroism is righteousness.

After the failure of the Huangqiaosong Rebellion, Dai Bingnan was promoted by Yan Xishan and served as the commander of the 30th Army. Yan

In order to win him over, Xishan not only gave him thirty thousand oceans, but also gave him a beautiful typist from the Appeasement Office, Pan Derong, nicknamed "Hademen", as a little wife.

For a time, Dai Bingnan was overjoyed.

Peng Dehuai: Digging three feet into the ground must also find him

On April 20, 1949, the People's Liberation Army launched a general offensive against Taiyuan, and on April 24, Taiyuan was liberated, and the most brutal urban offensive in North China finally came to an end.

After the People's Liberation Army entered the city, it captured Qi Dehou, but dai Bingnan was the only one who did not see him. According to information from soldiers on the front line, on April 22, Dai Bingnan commanded the 30th Army to fight the People's Liberation Army when he was killed by the PLA's artillery. His body was blown to pieces, and his wife gave him a funeral, but no one knew where he was buried.

Peng Dehuai heard the tip and suddenly sneered: "Surely not dead, digging three feet into the ground will also find him!" ”

Why is Mr. Peng so determined? It turned out that when the city was attacked that night, the People's Liberation Army did not use artillery, and if artillery was used, it needed to be ordered by General Peng himself. Since the artillery did not participate in the siege, how could they kill Dai Bingnan? Therefore, Mr. Peng judged that Dai Bingnan was suspended to death in an attempt to pass the customs in a confused manner. General Peng ordered the Taiyuan Public Security Bureau to find the traces of Dai Bingnan, and this task fell to Gao Jie, the head of the first section.

Taiyuan City is so big, looking for Dai Bingnan's whereabouts is like finding a needle in a haystack. It was not until early May that the Taiyuan Public Security Bureau arrested Dai Bingnan's bodyguard, Li Shijie, and after some interrogation, Li Shijie finally revealed Dai Bingnan's hiding place.

After liberating Taiyuan, Xu Xiangqian instructed General Topeng: Find Dai Bingnan, live to see people, and die to see corpses

Dai Bingnan was arrested

It turned out that on April 22, the day the People's Liberation Army attacked the city, Dai Bingnan saw that the general situation had gone, and thought of using fake death to escape the people's trial. He asked Li Shijie to drive him to the second courtyard of Yinyang Lane of Kaihua Temple, where his brother-in-law Gao Zunyu's family was small and very suitable for concealment. Dai Bingnan repeatedly told Li Shijie not to tell anyone, as long as he survived, he would certainly benefit Li Shijie. But after Li Shijie was arrested, his life was very important, and he could take care of so much.

Dai Bingnan had a gun in his hand, and Gao Jie, the head of the first section, did not dare to be idle, and gathered more than a dozen capable generals, led by Li Shijie, to the Yinyang Lane of Kaihua Temple to arrest Dai Bingnan. At this time, Gao Zunyu was eating breakfast, when he saw Li Shijie leading a group of public security personnel, he immediately panicked, and the bowl fell to the ground with a click, and asked in a trembling tone: "How did you come?" ”

Li Shijie replied, "Let the military commander come out!" Confession is lenient, resist strictly! ”

Gao Zunyu was overwhelmed for a moment, and his eyes involuntarily looked at a big chef in the room. The public security personnel immediately became vigilant. Loudly shouted: "Dai Bingnan, don't come out again, we shot!" ”

After a while of kung fu, a middle-aged man with hair like a messy chicken nest, wearing a black plainclothes and a beard crawled out of the kitchen.

Gao Jie surrounded him with public security personnel, pointed a gun at him, and asked, "Are you Dai Bingnan?" ”

The middle-aged man looked up, "It's me." ”

On July 8, the Taiyuan Military Control Commission Special Court sentenced Dai Bingnan to death and executed him immediately, one of the few captured Generals in the Nationalist Army who was directly sentenced to capital punishment, which shows how bad the crime he committed was.

After Dai Bingnan was shot, taiyuan citizens ran in the streets to tell each other, and sighed one after another:

If it weren't for Dai Bingnan, the villain, Taiyuan would have been liberated half a year earlier, why would we have suffered so much!
