The BMW Group officially announced that it will bring nearly 10 high-performance and performance models to China this year, including the all-new BMW M5. By the end of this year, the M brand is expected to expand the number of models in China to 23, ranging from compact models to medium and large luxury vehicles, covering three drive types: gasoline, electric, and plug-in hybrid.

In 2023, the sales volume of the BMW M brand in China increased by 46% year-on-year, setting a record for the annual sales volume of the M brand since it entered the Chinese market. After a significant expansion of the product lineage, the sales volume of the M brand is expected to reach a new high.

In addition to the all-new BMW M5 and the already launched i5 M60 and new M4, BMW will also launch the X1 M35Li, the new M240i, the X3 M50, the new M3 and the new M2.

The BMW X1 M35Li has been declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is scheduled to start production at BMW Brilliance's Shenyang plant in September, and is the first BMW M model to be produced in China, equipped with an imported 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 221kW, which is the same as the X1 M35i standard shaft in the European market.

The current M2

The mid-term facelift M240i is expected to be produced in August this year, and the new car will add an optional carbon fiber roof, a variety of new car colors and different styles of wheels, and it is likely that only the four-wheel drive version will be available (the current domestic version is the rear-wheel drive version). The mid-term facelift M2 will be upgraded with a new 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a slight increase in power.

Production of the BMW X3 M50 is scheduled to begin in July, replacing the current X3 M40i. Judging by the suffix of the name, the new car is expected to improve performance, replace the new 3.0T engine, add sports packages such as bilateral quad exhaust and "devil's ear" exterior mirrors, and upgrade the interior to a dual-screen and match the ninth-generation BMW iDrive.

The facelifted M3 will adopt a similar look to the M4 facelift, with new LED headlamps and slender arrow-shaped daytime running lights, a blue trim strip on the inside of the light cluster, and the elimination of laser modules. The new car will also be equipped with the 8.5-generation BMW iDrive operating system, with a black base logo, a silver trimmed rear badge and a red Alcantara flat-bottomed steering wheel.

The all-new M5 is expected to go into production in July this year, equipped with a 4.4T V8 engine + plug-in hybrid, making it the second M high-performance model to use plug-in hybrid power after the XM.
