However, in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the boldness and patriotic spirit displayed by many "miscellaneous" generals made many of Chiang Kai-shek's central military lineages inferior! For example, He Dehou.
Born in 1910 in Jingyang, Shaanxi Province, his family was not rich, but his father was a very knowledgeable man who understood that only learning could change his destiny, so he tried his best to even pick up the rags to provide for Him to study.
When he was studying at the Sanyuan Shaanxi Third Normal School, he heard that Feng Yuxiang was recruiting, and in order to reduce his father's burden, he applied for the student group and was successfully admitted.
He had been a captain under Feng Yuxiang. Later, when the Great War of the Central Plains broke out and Feng Yuxiang's army was defeated, most of the former Northwest Army was thrown into Chiang Kai-shek, and the troops of Qi Dehou were incorporated into the 30th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and he also participated in the later "encirclement and suppression" of the Red Army.
Such an identity is naturally not in Chiang Kai-shek's eyes, but during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, He Dehou proved the strength of the "miscellaneous cards" with his actions.
In 1937, after the outbreak of the July 7 Incident, He Dehou served as the commander of the third battalion of the 176th Regiment of the 88th Brigade of the 30th Division of the 30th Army, and was ordered to garrison the 4057 Heights in Yangeryudong on the outskirts of Beiping to block the Japanese Kou southward.
This was a vicious battle, from the end of August, the Japanese poured thousands of shells into the 4057 high ground every day, and then attacked with the regiment as a formation, the offensive was extremely fierce, the two sides fought fiercely for 11 days, and every day The Japanese army repelled at least 4 attacks. Although the position was still in our hands, more than 500 people in the three battalions led by Tong Dehou had already suffered most of the casualties, and the deputy battalion commander Zhao Zhidao was also seriously injured.
Seeing this, He Dehou decided to carry out a stepped defense, leaving more than a hundred people to defend the 4057 heights, while the others took the wounded south to build fortifications on the avenue leading to Zhoukoudian.
At the new fortifications, after several days of bloody fighting, the Servants suffered more than half of the casualties again, but fortunately at this time there was an order to let them turn to Niangziguan, which avoided the end of the total annihilation of the army, and only 72 of them were left at this time.
After arriving at Niangziguan, the battalion of Tong Dehou was replenished, and he was immediately ordered by his superiors to go to Nanyu Station to guard against the Japanese Kou. When his troops were only a hundred paces away from the enemy, he raised his telescope to observe the situation, but he did not expect a Japanese sniper to shoot a bullet at him, shattering the telescope and injuring his left hand.
The military doctor on the side immediately came to check, and seeing that the situation was more serious and likely to be infected, he suggested that he immediately go to the rear hospital for treatment. But there was already a fight ahead, and the whole battalion would immediately collapse if he retreated at this time.
So he called the hygienist, and a bottle of iodine tincture fell directly on the injured palm, and then let people hold it while continuing to command.
Seeing that he was so brave, the warriors were greatly energized and repelled the attack of the Japanese Kou. However, due to the passage of time, the hand injury of The Thick Hand was healed, and the little finger did not listen to the call later.
Even though he made many meritorious achievements, but because he was not a concubine of the Central Army, he was not promoted, and at the time of the Battle of Taierzhuang, he was still the commander of the 3rd Battalion of the 176th Regiment, and in this famous battle, He Dehou achieved the four words of 'Tough and Not Afraid of Death'.
Without saying a word, He Dehou immediately selected 39 strong men, plus a total of 40 people himself, to form a death squad, each carrying 8 grenades, carrying large knives and bayonets on his back, and launched an attack on the city gate as soon as night came.
They used their bodies to open the way for the troops, and that night they attacked the city gate, destroying the enemy on both sides of the main street of the city gate, and causing the Japanese turtles to shrink in the northwest corner of the city.
In the following days, while blocking the enemy forces outside the city, he continued to attack the remnants of the enemy, and the task was quite arduous. In order to open the breakthrough, the Japanese Kou dispatched 10 cannons to continue to bombard the city, and how serious was it when they were at their worst? There is scorched earth all around, and the hand is full of shrapnel!
Fortunately, when they could not hold on immediately, Li Zongren commanded the troops to carry out a full-line counterattack, and the Japanese gradually retreated.
After this battle, only one officer was left in the battalion, and a total of 25 people survived, while only 3 of the 40 daredevils, including Hime Dehou, were left, all of whom were seriously injured.
The Kuomintang press wrote a special letter about The Heroic Deeds of Theo, and Chiang Kai-shek was embarrassed not to express it, so he was promoted to regimental commander and asked Sun Lianzhong, commander-in-chief of the Second Army, to award him the gold "Jiahe Medal of the First Class of the First Class", the Medal of Honor of HuaXin, and the Second Class Medal of Baoding.
Because his injuries were too serious, He dehou was treated and rested for a long time in the rear, and it was not until 1941 that he entered the higher education class of the Chengdu Branch of the Central Military Academy, and after graduation, he served as the deputy commander of the 27th Division of the 30th Army.
Unfortunately, during the Liberation War, He Dehou did a wrong thing, which led to his subsequent imprisonment for ten years.
Those familiar with modern history know that the Battle of Taiyuan was one of the most brutal battles in the Liberation War, with more than 40,000 casualties in the People's Liberation Army and the city of Taiyuan being seriously damaged by the war.
The 30th Army was at the forefront of the Taiyuan garrison in terms of combat effectiveness, and commander Huang Qiaosong, disgusted by Chiang Kai-shek's behavior in fighting a civil war, decided to revolt on the front line; at that time, when things were about to be launched, the People's Liberation Army also sent Jin Fu, chief of the staff office of the Eighth Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army, Zhai Xuyou, and other cadres to cooperate.
Unexpectedly, however, at the most critical juncture, Dai Bingnan, commander of the 27th Division, and Tong Dehou, deputy commander of the 27th Division, reported this matter to Yan Xishan, making the uprising a failure.
Later, Huang Qiaosong and Jin Fu were sent to Nanjing to be killed, while Dai Bingnan was promoted to commander of the 30th Army, and Tong Dehou was promoted to commander of the 27th Division. Because these two people's whistle-blowing, not only these few lives were harmed, but also tens of thousands of lives that died in the war!
After the liberation of Taiyuan, Dai Bingnan and Tong Dehou were captured, and Dai Bingnan followed Huang Qiaosong for 16 years, and the news was also passed out from him, so the People's Liberation Army brought him to justice. As for Qi Dehou, remembering his meritorious deeds in the War of Resistance, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In prison, He pleaded very positive, and after his release from prison, he was assigned to work as a worker in the Taiyuan Dongtaibao Brick Factory, and returned to his hometown in 1975 to reunite with his relatives, still working in the brick factory.
After 1986, He served as a member of the sixth, seventh and eighth CPPCC committees of Jingyang County, and slowly his deeds during the anti-Japanese period were gradually reported.
In 2005, when commemorating the 60th anniversary of the victory of the world anti-fascism and the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, He Dehou was invited to return to Taierzhuang, the hometown of the War of Resistance, and he was very excited at that time, as if he had seen his young self again.
In June 6, 2007, He dehou died in his hometown at the age of 97.
Personally, I feel that He has made meritorious contributions to the anti-Japanese resistance and has been liberated, but he is not afraid of death when he is hostile to the japanese and the Japanese, and he can be called a hero and a good man!
