In the early 1930s, Shen Sanwu, a native of Yangqu County, Taiyuan, who had learned lantern making skills since childhood, set up a stall at the entrance of the Rat Cave Alley on Taiyuan Bell Tower Street to sell Lantern and sweet products, and because the Shen family Lantern was genuine, it was deeply recognized by the neighbors.
In 1937, Shen San cargo took over the "HengyiCheng Butcher Shop" at the entrance of the Rat Cave on Zhonglou Street and renamed it "Hengyicheng Sweet Shop", and the Lantern naturally became the "golden signboard" of the sweet shop.
