Pei Xiu (791–864), courtesy name Gongmei, was of Han Chinese descent. A native of Jiyuan, Hanoi (present-day Jiyuan, Henan), his ancestral home was Wenxi, Hedong (present-day Wenxi, Yuncheng, Shanxi). Famous minister and calligrapher of the middle and late Tang Dynasty, the second son of Pei Su, an observer of eastern Zhejiang. Pei Xiu was erudite and versatile, working in poetry and painting, and was good at calligraphy. The "Guifeng Zen Master Monument" written by him looks like a willow body, but the style is more flattering than the willow body, drawing on the strength and danger of the European body. His calligraphy has also been passed down from generation to generation, including the Dinghui Zen Master Stele. Mi Fu once commented: "Pei Xiu's intention to write the monument is really interesting, and he does not fall into the ugly." ”
