Lin Huiyin was born in June 1904 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, in a scholarly mendi, and her grandfather Lin Xiaoke was a jinshi. He once served as a magistrate in Jinhua, Xiaofeng and other places in Zhejiang. Lin Huiyin's father, Lin Changmin, was once the chief justice of the Beiyang government, for his daughter Lin Huiyin, Lin Changmin can be described as a devoted training, although before the age of 8, Lin Huiyin lived with his grandparents for a long time, but Lin Huiyin gradually grew up after Lin Changmin brought him to teach.
In April 1920, Lin Changmin wanted to go to Europe for work reasons, and the 16-year-old Lin Huiyin followed his father to Europe, just as the so-called "reading thousands of books is not as good as walking thousands of miles", Lin Huiyin grew a lot of insights in the process of traveling, especially when settling in London, the landlord was a female architect, taught Lin Huiyin a lot of novel architectural knowledge, Lin Huiyin immediately became very interested in architecture, and determined to study architecture.
During her travels in Europe, Lin Huiyin met a person who had a great influence on her, and this person was Xu Zhimo. At a dance party, Xu Zhimo fell in love with Lin Huiyin, who was only 16 years old and radiated youthful radiance. So Xu Zhimo often came to Lin Huiyin's house in the name of a friend. Lin Huiyin really regarded Xu Zhimo as a friend, but Xu Zhimo was obsessed with Lin Huiyin, and even divorced his wife Zhang Youyi, who was already pregnant with a second child, and Lin Huiyin cut off contact with Xu Zhimo after learning about it.
In 1921, Lin Huiyin followed his father back to China and continued his studies at Peihua Girls' High School. Under the introduction of her father, Lin Huiyin met Liang Sicheng, the eldest son of Liang Qichao, and in June 1924, she joined hands with mei to study architecture, And Lin Huiyin took the first step to achieve her ideals, and this period of study should be the happiest time of her life. Because being able to do the work you love and be with the people you love the most is itself the happiest thing in the world.
In 1928, after graduation, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng got married, and in August of the same year, the couple both returned to China to teach in the Department of Architecture of Northeastern University. Since 1930, the husband and wife have traveled almost all over the country hand in hand, inspecting a total of 2738 ancient buildings, and during the War of Resistance Against Japan, many ancient buildings have been valued and protected by the whole country and even the world because of their inspection materials. In order to investigate the building, Lin Hui is not afraid of the wind and the sun, so his face is not as beautiful as when he was young.
During their work, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng had a son and a daughter of their own, the eldest daughter named Liang Zaibing, born in Beiping in 1929. The youngest son, Named Liang Congjie, was also born in Beiping, and due to work reasons, the two children also drifted away with their parents and suffered a lot. Lin Huiyin has had lung disease since he was a child, and the perennial rush has made Lin Hui in his later years overwhelmed by his body, and his condition has become more and more serious.
On April 1, 1955, Lin Hui died of illness at the age of 51. After her death, her body was buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, and the inscription "Architect Lin Huiyin's Tomb" on the tombstone is an affirmation of her outstanding achievements in the field of construction.
