It said that in 2022, the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles will be reduced by 30% on the basis of 2021. For vehicles in the field of urban buses, road passenger transport, online ride-hailing and taxis, postal couriers, civil aviation airports, and party and government organs that meet the requirements, the subsidy standard will be reduced by 20% compared with 2021.
At the same time, in order to maintain the good development momentum of the new energy automobile industry and comprehensively consider other factors such as the development plan of the new energy automobile industry, the subsidy policy for the purchase of new energy vehicles in 2022 will be terminated on December 31, 2022, and the vehicles licensed after December 31, 2022 will no longer be subsidized.
This also means that 2022 will be the last year to implement the subsidy policy for new energy vehicles. The reduction in subsidies for new energy vehicles is not a sudden thing. New energy vehicle subsidies since 2009, to the current 2021, China's new energy vehicle market subsidies and policy dividends have been about 12 years, of which has also been steadily reducing the subsidy range, 2022 subsidy reduction and 2023 subsidy stop is also foreseeable. At the same time, this move will also stimulate consumers with purchase intentions to a certain extent, and many car companies will also increase prices.
Tesla China has also confirmed that the previous Model 3 and Model Y price increases of tens of thousands of yuan are related to the decline in subsidies for new energy vehicles. After the release of the policy, other car companies have also increased their prices to a greater or lesser extent. Volkswagen's ID.6CROZZ and ID.4CROZZ models will rise by 5,400 yuan overall from January 1, 2022. GAC Aeon LX will increase its price by 4,000 yuan from January 2022, starting at 230,000 yuan. Nezha Automobile and Feifan Automobile have also said that they will adjust the price of their models after New Year's Day.
The 2022 car purchase subsidy plan released by WEILAI Automobile said that users who paid a deposit to purchase ES8, ES6 and EC6 before December 31, 2021, and who pre-car on March 31, 2022, can still enjoy subsidies in accordance with the 2021 national subsidy standards, and the extra difference is borne by NIO. Xiaopeng Motors also said that it will launch a "limited-time insurance policy" from January 1 to January 10, 2022. Consumers who complete the deposit payment during the above period can enjoy the comprehensive subsidy and the recommended retail price will remain unchanged from 2021.
Xiaopeng and Weilai's initiatives can be described as a wise move, which can not only promote orders, but also win the hearts and minds of some users. With the reduction or disappearance of subsidies for new energy vehicles, the new energy market has gradually changed from policy-driven to demand-driven, which will also test the comprehensive product strength of major brands.
Although the subsidy range has declined, the scale of subsidies has been relaxed from the original expected subsidy scale of 2 million vehicles to the upper limit, and the subsidy has been realized throughout the year. Therefore, the sales of new energy vehicles in 2022 are expected to be much more than in 2021, and the sales of 5 million vehicles are expected to be more than that.
