In particular, many highway service areas lack charging stations, resulting in the phenomenon of "fear of heights" in new energy vehicles, and dare not go far. The reporter learned from the Sichuan Provincial Transportation Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Corps (Sichuan Provincial Transportation Department Expressway Management Bureau) on the 24th that in order to solve this problem, Sichuan Province has built charging pile facilities in 79 pairs of highway service areas, covering 20 cities and prefectures, basically achieving full coverage of major road sections.

In the Chengba Expressway Zhongjiang Service Area, the charging station that has just been built and put into use this year is very eye-catching - 4 charging piles and 8 charging guns can meet the charging of 8 new energy vehicles at the same time.
"The charging piles in the Zhongjiang Service Area are built in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement Corps, and all are equipped with fast charging guns." Hu Xiaoling, general manager of the new energy company under Shudao Group, said that compared with the common ordinary charging piles in the past, the charging efficiency of fast charging piles is higher, and the general new energy vehicles can charge 60% of the electricity for about half an hour, which can meet the needs of small family cars to travel 300 kilometers.
Hu Xiaoling revealed that the charging stations in the newly built high-speed service area in Sichuan this year are all built in accordance with the standard of "4 piles and 8 guns" fast charging. According to the statistics of the charging stations that have been built, these charging stations charge an average of 50 vehicles and 1,000 kWh of electricity per day, with an average of 20 kWh of electricity per vehicle, which can be used for passenger cars to run 150 kilometers and vans to run about 100 kilometers.

"This year alone, our province has built 38 pairs of charging stations in the highway service area, which is basically equivalent to the sum of the '13th Five-Year Plan' period." Jiang Shuai, director of the Service Supervision Division of the Sichuan Provincial Transportation Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Corps, said that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 41 pairs of charging stations for expressway service areas were built in the province, and with the new ones built this year, 79 pairs of service areas on the Sichuan Expressway network can be charged, basically achieving full coverage of major road sections. At present, the average spacing of these charging stations is 60 kilometers, the maximum spacing is 200 kilometers, and the minimum spacing is 27 kilometers, covering 20 cities and prefectures, weaving a charging network centered on Chengdu, from south to north, from east to west throughout Sichuan.
The reporter learned that in the next step, Sichuan will build more than 45 pairs of charging infrastructure in service areas in 2022 on the basis of the development trend of new energy vehicles, closely follow the travel needs of the people, and on the basis of completing the construction of the basic structure of the charging infrastructure network centered on Chengdu, to achieve full coverage of highway sections in the province. For the newly built road sections after 2021, in the early stage of project planning and construction, intervene in advance and urge the construction unit to complete the construction of charging piles in the service area synchronously during the construction of the project.
