In our daily driving, we often encounter situations where we have to make a U-turn. However, when driving around, many novice drivers will shake their hearts, and if they are not careful, they will be fined 200!
So, what are the circumstances in which U-turns are allowed and which are not? In general, as long as there is no U-turn sign, it is possible to make a U-turn without affecting the normal operation of the vehicle and ensuring safety. In addition, there are also cases where you can turn around without waiting for the green light to come on.
These cases are made without looking at the traffic lights
1. When the inside of the double yellow line is a dotted line
Vehicles close to the dotted side can make a U-turn without affecting the oncoming vehicle.
2. The inside of the double yellow line of the intersection is the left turn intersection of the dotted line
Vehicles on the dotted side of the intersection do not need to crosswalks or enter intersections, and can turn around without waiting for the green light without affecting oncoming vehicles.
3. There is a yellow grid line area on the ground
As long as there is no isolation guardrail or solid line in the middle of the yellow grid line area, after avoiding normally moving vehicles, you can turn around without waiting for the green light. However, it should be noted that parking is not possible within the yellow grid line.
4. The dotted side of the green belt at the intersection
Vehicles on the side of the dotted line in the green belt of the intersection can make a U-turn without waiting for the green light to ensure safety.
But!!! When the green belt is in front of a solid line area, traffic lights must be followed and the zebra crossing must be crossed before turning around. Never make a U-turn in the solid area.
In the above four cases, although the U-turn vehicle does not need to be controlled by the signal light, it is also necessary to ensure that it cannot affect the normal driving of the opposite vehicle. If a traffic accident occurs because the U-turn vehicle does not give way to a normally moving vehicle, the U-turn vehicle is fully responsible.
A case where U-turns are prohibited
1. There is a sign prohibiting U-turning
This does not need to be explained, as long as there is a sign prohibiting U-turns, then the intersection is definitely not allowed to make a U-turn.
2. At the zebra crossing at the intersection
This is where many old drivers make mistakes, and you can't turn around on the zebra crossing, remember! Because the zebra crossing area is equivalent to a sidewalk, it is absolutely not allowed to make a U-turn. Vehicles need to cross the zebra crossing before they can make a U-turn, and cannot be pressed on the zebra crossing to make a U-turn.
3. The center of the road is a solid line
Whether it is a solid yellow line or a white solid line, after learning a driver's license, you know that driving cannot be compacted, so it is naturally not allowed to turn around.
4. Intersections where left turn is prohibited
Our U-turn is actually an extension of the left turn, so if a turn left is prohibited at an intersection, then a U-turn is also prohibited.
5. On the highway
Motor vehicles on the highway U-turn driving is one of the most dangerous traffic violations, individual drivers driving on the highway do not pay attention to the traffic signs, missed the ramp intersection under the U-turn retrograde, very dangerous, once found the traffic police will be deducted 12 points, a fine of 200 yuan penalty.
6. Other special circumstances
Railway crossings, bridges, steep slopes, or tunnels are dangerous sections of the road, and motor vehicles are usually not allowed to turn around.
