PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

In the game of "PHEV v.s. BEV", our pure electric group had long expected to lose, but did not expect to lose so badly.

The day before the game, we made countless conjectures about the situation —

In the city commuting part, our pure tram will definitely save money than their kind of oil-burning car, and this advantage should be used well;

In the long-distance part, our endurance should theoretically be enough for one round trip, and if you are lucky, you should not need to charge. Even if you want to charge, we charge for ten minutes, enough to survive back to Guangzhou, plus it will be a weekday, the high-speed service area should not have anyone queuing up to charge, so in the end it will not be much slower than them.

However, there are two "unthinkables" in this.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

The first thing that was unexpected was that BEV would cost more to commute than PHEV in the morning and evening peaks.

The first journey of our competition is to simulate the commuting peak of commuting, and the choice of route is also more representative, that is, starting from Hopson Plaza, passing through Xinjiao West Road, Industrial Avenue and Zhoutouzui Tunnel to Exit C of Huadiwan Subway Station, and then without stopping, directly turn around and take the Zhoutouzui Tunnel and Inner Ring Road, passing through Gaode Land Winter Square and going to the venture capital town not far from Hopson Plaza.

From the outskirts of Guangzhou to the commercial hinterland of Guangzhou, this road is not unfamiliar to many Migratory Birds of Guangzhou-Foshan. On the day of the race, this road also lost our hopes, and after getting on the inner ring, we blocked all the way to The Winter Square of Gaode Land. Just 32 kilometers, we walked for nearly an hour and a half.

The more congestion, the more favorable it is for our pure electric group: although everyone is driving in pure electric mode, how to say that we are pure electric vehicles, electricity is our advantage!

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

In the end, the comprehensive power consumption of 100 kilometers of Xiaopeng P5 is 15.6kWh, if calculated according to the charging cost of 1.95 yuan / kWh, the cost per kilometer is 0.304 yuan, the total cost is 9.728 yuan; the electricity consumption of the 32 kilometers of Qin PLUSDM-i is 3.3kWh, which translates to the comprehensive power consumption of 100 kilometers is 10.31kWh, and the cost per kilometer is 0.201 yuan, with a total cost of 6.4 yuan.

Yes, you read that right, in our most certain part, we lost! And the loss is not a star and a half - don't look at this is just 3 yuan more, a few kilowatt hours of electricity gap, in fact, the cost difference between the two is 52 percentage points, the power consumption difference is 42 percentage points, it is simply a world of difference!

Afterwards, we also tried to find some reasons: for example, the Xiaopeng P5 we test drove was a 600km endurance version, equipped with a 71.4kWh ternary lithium battery, the curb weight was as high as 1725kg, which was 105kg heavier than the top of Qin PLUS DM-i.

For example, our Xiaopeng P5 is very rich in configuration, both aromatherapy systems, car refrigerators, lidar... The more power equipment, the more power consumption is naturally more. However, these reasons are obviously not enough to cause the result of spending four or five kWh of electricity for more than 1 hour, after all, even if the refrigerator at home is opened for an hour, it does not need 1 kWh of electricity.

The second thing that we did not expect was that we, who only made up 33.93 kWh of electricity, actually arrived at Hopson Plaza in Guangzhou an hour and a half later than the PHEV group.

When we set off for Enping, the remaining cruising range shown on the Xiaopeng P5 dashboard was 373km (under NEDC conditions), and our trip from the venture capital town to and from the Dongxing Hotel in Enping was only 317km, so in theory we did not need to recharge this journey - the whole journey is uniform, and it is not unusual to run out of the NEDC.

But unfortunately, when arriving at the Enping Dongxing Hotel 157km away, the remaining endurance of the Xiaopeng P5 was only 164km, which was 209km less than before departure, which was equivalent to a 7.5% discount. So that when we navigated back to Guangzhou, a small red letter appeared on the central control screen: "The expected power cannot be reached."

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

For the next meal, we were very nervous. Even though we have accepted the fact that we need to make up a battery to get back to Guangzhou, the road from Enping to Guangzhou is the nearest charging station in the Yayao High-speed service area 95 kilometers away. Can our Xiaopeng P5 survive this hundred kilometers? We don't know!

The PHEV on the other side is much more comfortable. Although this 157km distance consumes their electricity from 55% to 27%, close to the power state set by BYD DM-i, they can directly use oil after running out of electricity, without considering the problem of replenishment. Seeing this situation, one of the members of our pure electricity group directly turned against us and sat on the green boat of PHEV.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

To ensure that we had enough power to reach the charging station on our way back, we had to do some measures, such as turning up the temperature of the air conditioner and reducing the working time of the compressor, even if the temperature outside was close to 30 ° C.

Fortunately, Heaven is still in love with us!

When we reached the Yayao Expressway service area, the remaining mileage of xiaopeng P5 was still 43km, which was also a thrill along the way. However, we encountered another trouble in the service area that we did not expect - we thought that queuing for charging would only occur at the peak of travel such as holidays, but we did not expect it to appear on weekdays.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

Before departure, according to our previous experience, the high-speed service area on weekdays should be very idle, but I never expected that when I reached the service area, the three charging piles were in use, and the fastest buddy would take nearly 20 minutes to finish. alas! If you refuel, it will not take 20 minutes for the ten cars in the front row.

Wait, in fact, it is not the most terrible, the most terrible thing is that there is no order here, there is no queue at all.

We were also fine, when we arrived, there were only three cars charging at the charging station with four parking spaces, and there was still an empty space for us to park, so after the car next door was full, we could pick it up immediately, not afraid of others cutting in line.

The buddies who arrived behind us could only queue up next to the charging station. Coincidentally, just as the car next door was leaving, a small green noodle also came to charge, and before the big brother got on the car, the small face diameter drove into the parking space, leaving the big brother messy in the wind.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

Seeing the lonely back of the big brother, I was a little unbearable, I don't know how long he will have to wait next.

When we entered the service area, it was not yet 4 o'clock, and by the time we charged it was nearly 5 o'clock. For this hour, there are about ten minutes of waiting time, and the charging time is 41 minutes. Attentive netizens may ask, don't you only charge for ten minutes? How can it be charged for more than forty minutes? Do you want to fully charge the electricity?

Wrong, we don't want to fill the battery, and even we are eager to leave quickly, because charging here is really expensive. When we charge, it is the peak charging period, and each kWh is almost 2 yuan (electricity + service fee) - in the charging station in the city, the peak hour is also about 1.5 yuan / kWh, and most of them have to pay additional parking fees.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

In addition, when charging, the voltage does not reach the peak at once, there is a climbing process - about 3 minutes, and because the three piles of the charging station are in use, the peak power assigned to each pile is only 60kW, and finally we only charged 33.93 kWh in these 41 minutes, using 66.1 yuan, only making up for 258km of endurance.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

Just after being charged and ready to leave, we received a taunt from Guangzhou – yes, you guessed it, the PHEV group has successfully reached Hopson Plaza.

Supposedly, it took us 1 hour to recharge, which should have been only an hour behind the PHEV group to arrive at the destination. But unfortunately, when we returned to Guangzhou, we encountered the evening rush hour, not only did we drive very slowly, but even blocked for ten minutes when the highway junction was transferred to Guangzhou Avenue.

When we finally reached Hopson Plaza, it was already 6:30 p.m., an hour and a half behind the PHEV group. The only fortunate thing is that our cost on the highway is slightly lower than that of the PHEV group - the pure electric group only needs 0.28 yuan per kilometer, while the PHEV group is 0.44 yuan / km, and the overall difference between the two is 25.6 yuan.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

25.6 yuan and 1.5 hours, if you want to choose, who do you choose? I think most people would choose the latter. What exactly does this hour and a half mean?

First of all, the hourly minimum wage standard for part-time workers in Guangzhou is 20.3 yuan / hour, and the equivalent labor income of one and a half hours exceeds 30 yuan, and you want to earn 25.6 yuan in 1.5 hours!? Even the Guangzhou Municipal Government did not agree, how can you allow your time to be so cheap?

Secondly, it's not your 1.5 hours, it's a carload of people's 1.5 hours! During the charging process, in addition to the big brother who was cut in line, there was also a family that made me unbearable. When we came, they were already charging, and when we left, they were still charging, and the family was bored and could only sit on the side of the road and eat melon seeds. Fortunately, the weather is still quite pleasant, if it is a hot sun, it is naturally called a suffering.

PHEV v.s.BEV: I never expected that our pure power group would transmit money and transmit time

Moreover, our "long-distance" round trip is only 317 kilometers, in fact, it is far from being a long-distance journey, but can only be regarded as a short and medium-distance journey. But even so, we are 1.5 hours slower than the PHEV group! What if 600 km? What about 1000 km? What if it coincides with peak travel? How many hours does this have to be slower? I am a good big brother, this year's Spring Festival is to drive an electric car home, more than 2,000 kilometers, more than 20 hours more than others.

Our pure electric group this day's encounter, the average family is difficult to bear to live, at least I will not put the family in such a dilemma. People who often rush to the road should know that every minute on the road is torment, and many people are scurrying left and right, grabbing a second or two of yellow lights, just don't want to delay any minute.

Our "blood lesson" this time tells us that if you can only keep one car at home, plug-in hybrid is more suitable than pure electric.
