Liao Chengzhi and his mother He Xiangning

Cantonese people like to call chubby little boys "fat boys", Liao Chengzhi was born when he was thick and strong, tiger head tiger brain, father Liao Zhongkai saw this look, a "fat boy" blurted out, everyone was happy.

"Fat Boy" is very pleasing, but the era in which he was born was not pleasing to people, and when Liao Chengzhi was still learning the language of "Babbling", he began a wandering exile with his parents, and Japan became his second hometown. The grind of the difficult times forged their family. His father, Liao Zhongkai, became a strong leader of the revolutionary party; his mother, He Xiangning, stripped away the weak personality that Chinese women often had under the suppression of feudal etiquette. Xiao Chengzhi also became precocious, not only knowing how to help his father, but also becoming a natural leader among the students.

In June 1922, Liao Chengzhi was fourteen years old. His father was lured by Chen Jiongming, who had betrayed the National Revolution, to Shilong and detained, and was immediately transferred to the Ishii Arsenal. At this time, Chen Jiongming's brother was killed in Hong Kong. Chen Jiongming suspected that this was retaliation for the revolutionary party's detention of Liao Zhongkai, and decided to retaliate with a tit-for-tat and kill Liao Zhongkai. When the news came, the whole family was immersed in great grief. Afraid of the enemy's cutting grass and roots, the mother immediately hid Liao Chengzhi in Hong Kong and ran around herself to find ways to rescue her husband. Liao Zhongkai was imprisoned in a cell, his body tied, and his hands and feet were shackled. He secretly wrote a farewell poem to his daughter Liao Mengxing and son Liao Chengzhi, which can be regarded as a last word:

"Don't be sad for women, don't cry for children, don't say anything when Grandpa goes."

If you want Grandpa to be happy, Ah Nu and Ah Er cherish their bodies.

If you want Ah Dai Le, Ah Nu and Ah Er study hard.

Grandpa is bittersweet and the same as before, only owes the previous shell.

The body is originally a stinky skin bag, and the centenarian will be a gully.

The most important thing in life is the spirit, and the spirit is new every day.

Leave a word to remember, leave Ru to mourn the mother. ”

The revolutionary party's rescue of Liao Zhongkai was successful. But for Liao Chengzhi, the tip of his heart was greatly impacted, and he not only tasted what it was like to mourn, but also deeply understood the expectations of his father in his heart. Three years later, Liao Zhongkai was assassinated, and suddenly, he did not have time to say a word to his son. When entering the coffin, Liao Chengzhi and his sister helped their mother who could not cry to bid farewell to his father's body, and the poem left by his father to himself sounded in his ears: "The heaviest thing in life is the spirit... Ru mourns her mother. ”

The father went, and the emotional love between mother and son became deeper and deeper, almost to the point of dependence on each other. If He Xiangning did not hear from his son for a period of time, he would sit restlessly and have no heart for tea and dinner. As long as Liao Chengzhi has time, the first thing he does is to visit his mother. He knew that his mother had developed a habit of eating pickles and "raw fruits" in Japan, and when he visited his mother, he often went to Japanese stores to buy some Japanese pickles and foods such as "raw fruits" to change his mother's taste. Once, when he went to visit his mother, he saw that her mother had a piece of tape on the back of her hand, and painfully took her hand, gently rubbed it for an hour or two, and kept exhorting her mother in her mouth: "Never again worry too much in the future." He Xiangning's eyes were always filled with tears. She looked at her son carefully and felt that his son seemed to have grown up, and it was like he had not grown up. It is said that he grew up because his son had the appearance of an adult, and he also appeared confident and assertive; he said that he did not grow up because his son was still so kind and intimate around his mother, and sometimes he was a little cute and naughty, and even when his mother painted, he did not forget to paint two "fat boys" on the side.

In fact, at this time, Liao Chengzhi was already a Communist Party member. Due to his indignation and disappointment with the Kuomintang's right-wing regime, He Xiangning resigned from all his affairs in the Kuomintang and began a career of painting in seclusion. Two different life situations will also lead to some interesting anecdotes in the relationship between mother and child. The mother regards her son as the most trustworthy person, and does not say anything when he meets him; the son is limited to organizational discipline, cannot do everything and entrust, and sometimes has to mix some falsehoods. At that time, Liao Chengzhi was working in the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Fanan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and once in order to raise a sum of money for the Shanghai branch of the Anti-Japanese Grand Alliance, he took Comrade Huang Dingchen to his mother, saying that he had hired a German teacher and asked his mother to come up with a sum of money to reward the teacher. He Xiangning was convinced and immediately took out dozens of oceans, and she never dreamed that this money actually supported her son's work. After many years, whenever she thought about it, Liao Chengzhi always felt a little sorry; but at her mother's place, she may at most say with disgust: "The fat boy is still like a child, doing some naughty things." ”

In November 1928, Liao Chengzhi was dispatched by the party to Germany, where he mobilized Chinese seafarers in a political struggle. The following year, He Xiangning also went into exile in Paris because he hated Chiang Kai-shek, and lived by selling paintings. Liao Chengzhi learned of the news and immediately took his mother to Berlin. Here He Xiangning unexpectedly met Song Qingling, a woman in Chinese politics who did not allow her eyebrows to meet, inspired each other, and struck a beam of blazing sparks.

After the "9.18" incident, He Xiangning immediately rushed back to Shanghai and immediately threw himself into the anti-Japanese salvation movement. She organized the medical team of the Volunteer Army, sent a telegram to appeal for assistance to overseas Chinese, and worked with Soong Ching Ling to plan relief work and establish a hospital for wounded soldiers. But in the midst of her busy schedule, she was even more worried about her son, who had not been heard for a long time, and woke up several times in her dreams to see that the pillow towel was already wet.

One night, He Xiangning had just fallen asleep when she was awakened by a gentle knock on the door, and with the sound of the stairs, a young man in a long robe was brought into her room by the maid. "Fat boy!" He Xiangning shouted out in surprise, and Liao Chengzhi also ran to his mother's bed at once, and the mother and son who had been missing for a long time met again. He Xiangning looked at his son's emaciated and resolute face, and his heart was full of mixed feelings. She knew that her son had gone into exile abroad, was in prison, had endured so much hardship, and was now doing a great job. Although she very much hoped that mother and son could get together for a long time from now on, she understood that her son still had to go, not only to go far away from her, but also to ...

What He Xiangning was worried about day and night did happen. In March 1933, Liao Chengzhi was arrested in the public concession, and was soon extradited to the Shanghai Police Station, where he was ready to be released to Nanjing. Mr. Liu Yazi, a good friend of He Xiangning, found out about this situation and hurriedly told He Xiangning the news. He Xiangning was shocked to hear the news, and he did not care that he was sick, so he immediately called a taxi, rushed to Jiangwan with Liu Yazi, knocked on the door of the mayor's official residence, and When Wu Tiecheng heard that He Xiangning had asked to see him, he hurriedly took care of the guards, "Please sit in The living room of Lady Liao." He Xiangning ignored the guard's invitation, sat down at the gate with a sigh of relief, and said loudly: "I am not here to be a guest, I am here to go to jail!" Scolding Chiang Kai-shek is the most I have scolded, why don't you arrest them, but lock up innocent young people! Under He Xiangning's reprimand, Wu Tiecheng scratched his ears and scratched his cheeks, and he was overwhelmed and quickly called Song Ziwen for help. Song Ziwen felt that things were very tricky, and instead hung up the phone directly to Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek was also worried that He Xiangning was really desperate, and in case a good villain came out, it would be difficult for public opinion to explain to the Chinese people. So he instructed Song Ziwen to "look at it, don't get out of control." Finally, under the joint rescue of the party organization and Song Qingling, Liao Chengzhi was finally released.

When her son was born after the disaster, He Xiangning was naturally overjoyed, and at this time she also knew that her son was a member of the Communist Party. Although she was on the basis of her release that her son would not participate in political activities in the future, when she signed it, she understood that the legs of the horse could not be tied. Soon Liao Chengzhi was going to the Eyu-Anhui Su District according to the instructions of the party, and on the day of his departure, He Xiangning very cleverly covered his son's escape with an attitude of understanding and support. When they came together in the morning, she released the air that her son was going to swim, and when it was dark, she shouted loudly: "Why doesn't Chengzhi come back, don't drown." Then he rummaged through his son's drawer and found a farewell letter that had already been put away. After reading the letter, the old man was sad for a while. Whoever looks at it will not suspect that this "farewell without resignation" is premeditated, because the mother's sadness is indeed from the heart!

In the blink of an eye, three years have passed. For three years, her son was heard, until one day in the autumn of 1937, when a German named Wang Anna came to the Liao family, and Liao Chengzhi's sister received her, in which Wang Anna said that she had met Liao Chengzhi in Yan'an, and also brought a handwritten letter with her. At this time, I saw that Liao Chengzhi's sister was busy interrupting the voice of the person who came, taking three steps and making two steps to run upstairs, and after a while, she helped Old Lady He downstairs. He Xiangning was so excited that his words were incoherent, but he asked repeatedly, "You... Did you really meet Seung-chi? Wang Anna nodded her head with a smile and took out the letter that Liao Chengzhi entrusted her to bring from her pocket, and Mrs. He took the letter, her hands trembling uncontrollably, and she wiped her tears while reading her son's letter. From the letter, she learned that soon after her son entered the Soviet area, she followed Xu Forward on the long march, and when she arrived in Sichuan, she was ordered to be locked up by Zhang Guotao, and once again stepped to the brink of death. Later, I had the privilege of meeting Comrade Zhou Enlai, and only then was he shackled. Now my son has gone to work in Jiang Guan District. The letter was desperate for the mother and his fiancée to meet in Hong Kong as soon as possible. After reading the letter, He Xiangning grabbed Wang Anna's hand and said gratefully, "I will always thank you!" I will never forget this day! ”

The next day, Mrs. Ho bought the ferry ticket and took her daughter-in-law to Hong Kong through Pu Chun. In November 1938, Liao Chengzhi was married in Hong Kong, and the good thing he Xiangning had dreamed of was finally realized! She looked at a new couple, and for the first time in many years she couldn't keep her mouth shut.

However, during the war of resistance in that country, when the country was in trouble and the smoke was filled, the good dreams of a small family could not last long. Liao Chengzhi wanted to fulfill his father's last wish to "leave Ru to mourn and mourn his mother", but how many things related to the great cause of the country had to be done by him, making it difficult for him to fulfill his filial piety in order to fulfill his loyalty. But he knew that the connotation of love between him and his mother was becoming richer and richer, not only the love of "kindness" and "filial piety", but also the revolutionary love of working together for the common cause.

After the founding of the Country, mother and son can finally gather together for a long time. Although Liao Chengzhi was already in an important position at this time, as long as he was in Beijing, he would go to his mother's room every morning to ask for an hello, and when his mother went to a foreign country to recuperate or have an affair, his son often accompanied him to take care of him. In their spare time, mother and son either look back on the past together, or paint inscriptions and poems together to express their hearts and feelings. Later, in the face of adversity, some of these paintings became spiritual weapons to motivate them not to succumb to obscenity. During the Cultural Revolution, Liao Chengzhi was framed, and for his safety, Premier Zhou personally ordered him to be hidden and isolated from the world for five years. Madame Jing Puchun can visit him once a week, and every time she meets Liao Chengzhi, she often asks if her mother is she okay? How's your diet? At that time, Mrs. He's thoughts about her son were even more concerned, and every time she asked about her daughter-in-law, she always felt that she was looking for something to prevaricate herself. Knowing that the son was like a mother, He Xiangning knew that Chengzhi must have suffered again. So she took out a painting of "Treading Snow and Looking for Plums" that she had painted with her son, and thinking back to her son's past adventures, she firmly believed that the haze would eventually dissipate.

On September 1, 1972, He Xiangning died in a state of distress. Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou, in order to fulfill her wish to "live with Mr. Liao Zhongkai and die in the same cave" during her lifetime, specially sent a special car to send Lingshu to Nanjing to be buried with Mr. Liao Zhongkai. Since then, every year on the Qingming Festival, Liao Chengzhi has never forgotten to mourn his parents, and has come to the tombstone of his handwritten book many times to offer sacrifices. In May 1983, the seventy-five-year-old Liao Chengzhi once again came to the tomb of his parents to mourn and mourn, and immediately wrote a small poem, which said: "Jinling is infinitely good, come to Zhengqing Ming." Letters and pens, flowers to mourn the old relatives. Unexpectedly, a month later, Liao Chengzhi died of a heart attack in Beijing, and this sacrifice became his last filial piety.
