On the occasion of the "May Fourth" Youth Day, on April 29, mangrove scientific research workers and life medicine scientific research workers took young volunteers to carry out the mangrove protection public welfare activity of "Guarding the Maritime Forest at 28 degrees north latitude" in Yanpu Town, Cangnan County.
The activity was jointly carried out by Wenzhou Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, Zhejiang Subtropical Crops Research Institute and Wenzhou Medical University Laboratory Medical College (School of Life Sciences), Cangnan County Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, Cangnan County Yanpu Town Government, Cangnan County Yanpu Town Primary School and other units. During the event, the awarding ceremony of "Education Base of One Health Research Institute", "Mangrove Labor Practice Base" and "Mangrove Experimental Base" was held, and the launching ceremony of scientific research cooperation between Wenzhou Medical University School of Laboratory Medicine (School of Life Sciences) and Zhejiang Subtropical Crops Research Institute was held.
Chen Qiuxia, director of Zhejiang Subtropical Crops Research Institute, and Hong Xiaochang, secretary of the Party Committee of Wenzhou Medical University School of Laboratory Medicine (School of Life Sciences), respectively awarded flags to the mangrove guardian volunteer service teams of the two units, and awarded the primary school students the title certificate of mangrove knights, hoping that they would further carry forward the volunteer spirit of "dedication, love, mutual assistance and progress".
During the period, Yang Sheng, associate researcher of Zhejiang Subtropical Crops Research Institute, gave a scientific research lecture entitled "The Status of Mangroves and the Road to Scientific Research Protection", and introduced the current situation of mangroves and the latest research results of mangroves in mainland China and Zhejiang Province to the guests, teachers and student representatives.
More than 50 volunteers from the Youth League Committee of Zhejiang Subtropical Crops Research Institute, Wenzhou Medical University and Yanpu Town Primary School planted 1,666 square meters of mangrove seedlings and released 200 blue crab seedlings on the site on the tidal flat of Yanpu Bay in Cangnan. At the same time, activities such as mangrove science lectures, on-site painting of mangrove students in their hearts, beach clean-up actions along Puwan mangrove forests, and research and sampling of environmental impact factors of mangrove growth were carried out, so that more people could enter the mangrove forest and protect the mangrove forest.
