It's a pity that Musk's rocket booster successfully returned but capsized
SpaceX's B1058 rocket booster was the first commercial rocket to launch an American astronaut into orbit, and the only one to bear NASA's "worm" logo.
After completing a record-breaking 19th flight, the B1058 encountered strong winds and high waves on its way back to shore, causing the rocket booster to capsize and be mostly destroyed.
SpaceX plans to recover nine Merlin engines from the wreckage of the B1058 and inspect the remaining hardware to Xi learn as much as possible from this historic rocket booster.
SpaceX has retired and put on public display four rocket boosters that flew early, including the first B1019 to successfully return to the launch site, the first to reuse the B1021, and the first to serve as a side booster for the Falcon Heavy rocket to launch Musk's Tesla Roadster.
After the loss of 1058, SpaceX is believed to have 16 flight-proven, active Falcon 9 boosters left, with three more waiting to be used.
