On the afternoon of April 23, "Green Mountains on Both Sides of the Strait", an exhibition of works from the Oil Painting Department and the Printmaking Department of the School of Painting and Art of the China Academy of Art, opened at the Quanshan Stone Art Center. Jin Yibin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Academy of Art, announced the opening of the exhibition, Xu Jiang, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice chairman of the China Artists Association, director of the Academic Committee of the China Academy of Art, and Gao Shiming, president of the China Academy of Art, delivered speeches, and Quan Shanshi, a famous oil painter and professor of the China Academy of Art, delivered a speech.

Quan Shanshi highly affirmed the significance and teaching results of this teaching exhibition, emphasized the importance of "life" for students' growth, and hoped that the School of Painting and Art could continue to carry forward the fine tradition of practical teaching in the countryside of our school, and constantly encourage students to capture a vivid artistic image from life.

Xu Jiang recalled his experience in the countryside 43 years ago when he was a student. He pointed out that the word "sketching" contains extremely rich connotations, which is not only "collecting" real scenes and realities from the scene of life, but also "picking" vitality and vitality from the depths of nature. Xu Jiang focused on the three aspects of viewing, depicting and insight, and expounded several core issues of teaching in the countryside. He cited Mr. Jiang Liangfu's classification of "vision" in "Chu Ci" to guide students to study Chinese art traditions and establish the intention of "watching"; taking Monet and Van Gogh artists as an example, analyzing the height reached by their works in "depiction", encouraging students to assiduously temper their skills, seriously understand the artistic language, and "ignite the light of life" through works of art; taking Pan Tianshou's journey from creating "Jiangzhou Moon and Night Map" to "Yandang Mountain Flower Map" as an example, focusing on the essence of "insight" and asking artists to the end in sketching" Seeing the essential question of what "is" inspires students to think positively about "the power of insight." Finally, he sent a message of "mountains stop and rivers travel, and the wind and grass rise" to encourage students to adhere to the original intention of painting and reach the far side of art.

Gao Shiming, titled "I've Never Seen AnYthing Ugly," goes from "How did painters in classical times face nature?" "This question begins with a brief review of the painting history from Giorgione to Constanbul, sharing his experience of re-reading Blades of Grass." Whitman's 'poverty', where there is a kind of equality and broadness, a kind of heroism — everything that exists on the earth is a great poem," he points out, pointing out that the purpose of listing the painters of the twentieth century is "to allow our teaching to continue the big traditions, not the small schools." It is also to re-summon a consciousness, a spirit, a passion for nature, and a sincerity to the world. Gao Shiming specifically mentioned that today (April 23) coincided with Leonardo da Vinci's 570th birthday. Leonardo da Vinci's greatest inspiration or legacy for us is "What is painting?" What is the great goal behind painting? In leonardo da Vinci's time, beauty and truth, experience and experimentation were not yet completely separated, and artists looked for miracles from nature and worked hard to create miracles. Leonardo da Vinci's study of light and color, as well as his study of geology and aerodynamics, provided a kind of "apocalyptic world foresight" for posterity. He encouraged students to perceive nature like Leonardo da Vinci, depict nature, and strive to establish "the time of heaven and man in the 21st century."

At the opening ceremony, the "Teaching Practice Base of the School of Painting and Art of China Academy of Art" was also launched by the Quanshan Stone Art Center.
This exhibition exhibits more than 500 undergraduate and graduate works of the Department of Oil Painting and the Department of Printmaking, mainly presenting the basic appearance of teachers and students of the School of Painting and Art who will go to Yandang Mountain in Zhejiang Province and Feng County in Southwest Jiangxi province in 2021, which comprehensively reflects the teaching path and teaching concept of the practical courses in the countryside of our school. The exhibition will run until May 22.
