Mr. Wang Xuetao was born in Cheng'an County, Hebei Province in 1903 (the 29th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty). Formerly known as Ting Jun. His parents ran a common grocery store in the county seat. When he was young, Xue Tao was full of infinite love for the grass, trees, birds, and insects in the fields outside the city. In 1918, he applied for the manual drawing department of Baoding Zhili Higher Normal School. It was a very important new educational school in northern China at that time. Wang Xuetao was taught by Yao Shouchang and Song Yinwu in school. In 1919, Mr. Wang Senran, who was older than Mr. Xuetao, entered the Chinese language department of the school. The two became lifelong friends. After graduating, Mr. Xue Tao went to Dingzhou Normal School and Provincial No. 13 Middle School as a painting teacher. Mr. Wang Xuetao has served as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a deputy to the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party, and the president of the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1922, Wang Xuetao was admitted to the "Western Painting Department of the National Beiping Art College", and later transferred to the Chinese Painting Department. After graduating in 1925, he served at the Municipal No. 2 Secondary School. During this period, he followed Mr. Qi Baishi, Wang Mengbai and other gentlemen to continue to study and study. In 1927, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Chinese Painting of the National Art School, and was later promoted to lecturer. At the same time, he also serves as an art teacher in Jinghua Art College, North China Art College, Zhicheng Middle School, Sicun Middle School and other schools. Xiao Lang, a painter from Tianjin, was studying at Zhicheng Middle School at the time.
The National School of Arts is a new type of school. The school concentrated the famous painting masters in the north at that time, including Chen Shizeng, Ling Wenyuan, Tang Dingzhi, Xiao Qianzhong, Qi Baishi, Wang Mengbai, Chen Banding, etc. There is also a famous French painter Corodo. Therefore, the school has cultivated many painters with solid Chinese painting skills and influenced by Western painting, which has influenced the development of painting in the future. Mr. Wang Xuetao is undoubtedly one of the most famous.
During his time at the school, he established the first student club, the "Nine Friends Painting Club", which was composed of eight students from Shandong and Wang Xuetao from Hebei. Among them was Xu Peiyu (then named Xu Lanzhen), who later married Mr. Xuetao. In addition, there is Mr. Li Kuchan.
Qi Baishi admired Wang Xuetao very much and renamed him "Xuetao". He once inscribed Xue Tao's painting with the title "Xue Tao's painting looks like a white stone handiwork". Wang Mengbai also inscribed on Xuetao's paintings: "There are more than 100 scholars from me." The only one who has the mantle is Xuetao. ”

Since the thirties, Mr. Wang Xuetao began to "hang a pen list" in Rong Bao Zhai in Liuli Factory. After the fall of Beiping. Stranded in Beiping for various reasons, but he never cooperated with the landlord authorities and made a living as a "painting apprentice". At that time, the more famous students were "Xiao Lang, He Hanyu, Guo Xihe, Li Zanzhou, etc."
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Xuetao, Chen Banding and others began to prepare for the "New Chinese Painting Research Association", the first group of Chinese painters in Beijing, and officially established the "Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association" in 1953. In 1953, at the first Chinese painting exhibition in Beijing, Mr. Wang Xuetao's "Lutang Mandarin Duck" was rated first. At that time, some critics called it "quite the style of Song painting". Premier Zhou personally visited the exhibition.
In 1954, the First People's Congress of Beijing was held, and Mr. Xue Tao was elected as a representative to attend the meeting.
In 1956, he visited Europe as a member of the Chinese cultural delegation. Met Picasso. Picasso drew a dove of peace in red and blue pencil and learned to write down the three Chinese characters "Wang Xuetao". Visit an old friend Zhang Daqian, hoping that he will return to the mainland. At the same time, he demonstrated his Chinese painting skills on many occasions. European friends are all amazed.

His woodblock watermark is still placed in a prominent position in Rong Bao Zhai.
Mr. Wang Xuetao's works are known for their exquisite brushwork, elegant color and smart posture, which can be called the classic of Chinese freehand flower and bird painting, he adheres to the orthodox Chinese painting of sketching and silent memorization, and draws on the sketch and color contrast relationship in Western painting, through long-term observation of nature and a large number of sketching exercises, his images of flowers, birds, grass and insects are more rich and diverse, breaking through the traditional and popular established programs. At the same time, he strengthened the use of color on the basis of ink and color design, and skillfully integrated Western color rules into traditional flower and bird paintings, and then presented a new look of colorful and vivid freehand flower and bird paintings.
