So as early as 2008, BYD insisted on lithium iron phosphate, and finally made a breakthrough in 2020, creating a "blade battery" with a package energy density comparable to that of a ternary battery, but the safety is much higher, so that the mainland's power battery industry has turned to the road of sustainable development.
The results are clear. In 2021, the mainland lithium iron phosphate power battery installed 79.8GWh, achieving anti-overtaking of ternary lithium batteries. In this way, BYD has created a solid moat for the "safety" of the mainland's battery materials.
But in fact, the blade battery is only one of BYD's trump cards, and its DM-i super hybrid and e-platform 3.0 are equally stunning.
The power of dm-i super hybrid is that it takes into account power, cost and fuel consumption. Through the dual-motor EHS super electromix system with complete intellectual property rights, the Xiaoyun-plug-mix special high-efficiency engine, as well as the vehicle/engine/motor control system, battery management system, etc., it has realized "fast, provincial, quiet, smooth and green", and perfectly solved many pain points of users. This is also the most direct reason for BYD's suspension of fuel vehicles: with the gradual landing of DM-i super hybrids, fuel vehicles have been completely replaced.
The innovation points of e platform 3.0 mainly focus on intelligence, efficiency, safety, aesthetics, etc., and also solve the pain points of low temperature endurance of vehicles. Through the heat management system composed of heat pump air conditioning and PTC, the winter battery life was increased by 20%.
