Officials said: Since March, due to the epidemic, the company's supply chain partners in Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places have stopped production one after another, and have not yet recovered. Affected by this, WEILAI's vehicle production has been suspended.
Affected by this reason, many users' vehicles will be delayed in the near future. WEILAI said that the company will work with supply chain partners to strive for an early resumption of production under the premise of meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention.
On March 1, NIO released the latest delivery data showing that NIO delivered 9,985 new cars in March, an increase of 37.6% year-on-year, and NIO delivered 25,768 new cars in the first quarter, an increase of 28.5% year-on-year.
It is worth mentioning that although Weilai's sales are in line with expectations and have achieved growth, they still fell out of the "first echelon" of the delivery volume of new car-making forces.
According to the data, xiaopeng automobile delivered 34,600 units in the first quarter, an increase of 260% year-on-year, ranking first in the list; ideal car delivered 31,800 units, an increase of 152.1% year-on-year; Nezha automobile cumulative sales of 30,200 units, an increase of 305%;
It is understood that Weilai Automobile has not exceeded 10,000 sales for three consecutive months, and according to Insiders of Weilai Automobile, "the carbon fiber production of ES6 is in Langfang, and the current epidemic situation in Langfang is more serious." ”
This is not the first time that WEILAI has been affected by the supply chain! In August 2021, WEILAI delivered 5,880 new cars, down 26% month-on-month, falling out of the top three of the new car-making forces.
In response to the reasons for the decline in deliveries, NIO said that due to the impact of the epidemic in Malaysia, Nanjing and other places, the supply of individual parts of NIO was restricted, especially the production end of ES6 and EC6, which affected the delivery of new cars in August.
With the spread of the epidemic, almost all car companies are facing pressure from the supply chain level.
According to wholesale data released by Great Wall Motor, new car sales in February 2022 were 70,792 units, down 20.5% year-on-year, of which 6,037 units were sold overseas, down 38.3% year-on-year.
In response to the reasons for the decline in sales, Great Wall Motors explained that Bosch was the exclusive supplier of ESP configurations for Great Wall Motors' main models, mainly due to the Spring Festival holiday and the insufficient supply of body electronic stability systems (ESP) produced by Bosch Automotive Components (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. At present, Great Wall Motor is actively promoting the Bosch Group headquarters and chip suppliers to jointly formulate a production increase plan, and strive to quickly solve the problem of parts supply.
In addition to Great Wall Motors, Changan Automobile's sales in February fell by 37.6% year-on-year to 60,682 units, including the Changan CS75 series, Changan Yidong series, and Changan CS55 series, all of which fell sharply, of which the CS75 fell from 32,122 units in January to 12,297 units in February, Yidong fell from 21,324 units in January to 9,784 units, and the CS55 fell from 29,851 units in January to 5,013 units in January.
As for the reasons for the decline in sales, a document titled "Report on the Serious Shortage of Sales Resources Caused by insufficient supply of core-related suppliers such as Bosch" shows that "due to the continuous shortage of core-related parts, Changan Automobile has been in serious shortage of materials including Bosch airbag controllers and EPBI since February, which has ultimately led to a continuous sharp decline in production, and the market terminal resources are seriously insufficient, and the company's supply team is actively communicating solutions with Bosch and other suppliers."
It is not difficult to predict that with the impact of the epidemic in various places, the supply of auto parts will once again turn on the "red light". At the same time, the rise in the price of battery raw materials also continues to impact new energy vehicle companies, affecting the production and operation of car companies.
In addition to production obstructions, product deliveries will also be delayed due to the impact of the pandemic. According to NIO, as of March 31 this year, NIO's latest model ET7 has delivered 163 units. More new cars are on their way to various places and will be delivered to users one after another.
However, some car owners have responded on the APP that their expected vehicles have been produced, but they cannot be delivered to the city where they are located due to the epidemic. In this regard, Weilai Automobile also responded that the current vehicle logistics needs to follow the epidemic prevention requirements of various places, and the vehicles ordered in Shanghai cannot be transported in.
Today, WEILAI automobile production has once again been affected by the supply of parts, and this impact is obviously more severe. At present, it is not clear how much production capacity loss will be caused to WEILAI.
In addition, although other car companies have not issued a notice of suspension of production, it is expected that the production situation will not be optimistic due to the impact of parts. Previously, a number of companies have released sales data for March, but they are not ideal, such as Honda China's terminal sales in March fell by 33.2% year-on-year, Nissan China's sales fell by 32.6% year-on-year, and the above car companies were greatly affected by the supply of parts.
