On March 10, Volkswagen's new pure electric MPV ID.Buzz debuted, and the new car is based on the MEB platform, which is divided into two models: ID.Buzz (passenger version) and ID.Buzz Cargo (freight version).
It is understood that the ID.Buzz will be produced at the Volkswagen commercial vehicle plant in Hannover, Germany, and will start pre-sale in the European market in May and be listed in the autumn.
ID.Buzz has a clear difference in appearance from the MPV models on the market, which are based on the ID.Buzz concept version released in 2017, while adding the classic appearance of the Volkswagen T1.
Among them, ID.Buzz is different from the MPV on the market, due to the development of the MEB pure electric platform, its front cabin area is shorter, and as far as possible to give up the space to the car, so the short front shape also allows its styling style to further close to the Volkswagen T1.
In addition, the ID.Buzz adopts a suspended roof, the front face is similar to the Volkswagen T1 circular arc design, the matrix headlights on both sides are connected by LED daytime running lights, and there is a large Volkswagen LOGO in the center.
On the side of the body, the ID.Buzz adopts a double A-pillar design, in order to reduce the blind area, transparent glass is used between the two A-pillars, and the side windows are gradually reduced from the front row to the rear, forming a different visual style.
At the same time, as an MPV model, ID.Buzz uses a side sliding door design, which is different from the Volkswagen T1 split rear door, of which the passenger version is a double-sided sliding door and the freight version is a single-sided sliding door.
The rear of the body, the entire tail is relatively square, and the curved front of the car forms a strong contrast, which is also the maximum guarantee of the utilization of internal space, while the use of through taillights, the huge Volkswagen LOGO below with ID.Buzz logo. In terms of body size, the new car has a length, width and height of 4712mm/ 1985mm / 1937mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2988mm.
In terms of interior, ID.Buzz is similar to the current Volkswagen ID. family interior design style, using two floating LCD dashboards and multimedia displays, and the air conditioner outlet adopts a penetrating decorative design, but the central air outlet is actually still located under the central control screen.
Among them, the ID.Buzz passenger version uses white and orange colors, and the two front seats are designed with independent armrests, but there is storage space between the two front seats, not the rear through design.
Unfortunately, this car is not equipped with a sunroof, but it is expected to be equipped with a panoramic sunroof in the future.
In terms of power, ID.Buzz is built on the MEB platform, equipped with a battery pack with a net capacity of 77 kWh, a maximum motor power of 150 kW, a peak torque of 310 N·m, and a maximum speed of 145 km/h.
In addition, the car has a two-way charging function, which can supply external electrical appliances, but does not support vehicle-to-car charging.
Officials say ID.Buzz pre-sales in the European market are scheduled to begin in May and will be available this fall. In addition, with the help of ID.Buzz models, volkswagen "minibuses" will return to the US and Canadian markets, and the long-axis version will be officially unveiled in North America in 2023 and planned to be launched in 2024
As for whether it will be introduced domestically, Volkswagen has not indicated.
