It is reported that Volkswagen plans to invest $7.1 billion in its north American operations in the next five years, plans to launch 25 new all-electric models in North America by 2030, and get a 50% share of sales from the electric vehicle business.

The Chattanooga plant is Volkswagen's only plant in the U.S., and the models in production include Atlas. In March this year, Volkswagen began trial production of the ID.4 at the plant in preparation for the official production this fall.

Reportedly, ID. Buzz and ID.4 will be produced in collinear production, as the two cars share the same MEB EV architecture. An executive at Volkswagen said last month that id. Buzz will initially be sold as imported from Germany, but hints that the model could be produced in the U.S. or Mexico in the future.

Recently, the German "Manager" magazine reported that Volkswagen is considering building a second plant in the United States to increase its annual production capacity to 600,000 units. Business Magazine said the new plant could be located near the existing Chattanooga plant. At the same time, Volkswagen may build a new battery factory in the United States.
