Volkswagen officials recently revealed that it plans to improve the electrical specifications of its MEB electric vehicle platform, increase the battery life to 700 kilometers, increase the DC fast charging power to more than 200kW, and shorten the stationary acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour to about 5.5 seconds (4WD), which is expected to be installed in the new ID series family and the Aero B car series, which may come out in 2025.
At present, the products of the MEB electric vehicle platform, such as ID.3, ID.4, ID.4 CROZZ, etc., have a maximum NEDC mileage of about 550 kilometers, which is about 27% increase compared with the highest 700 kilometers after the upgrade; and according to foreign media information, the MEB platform is through the improvement of battery cell (Battery Cell) technology to achieve the effect of increasing endurance.
Then in terms of DC fast charging power, Volkswagen hopes to increase the maximum power of the existing MEB from 125kW to more than 200kW, almost reaching a fast 2 times increase, and whether the charging time will be shortened in equal proportions, and it remains to be judged by the charging curve released in the future.
Finally, Volkswagen pointed out that the elevated MEB platform, its stationary acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour time, can be shortened to up to about 5.5 seconds; and according to foreign media deductions, the current MEB platform can output up to about 300 horsepower, stationary acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour about 6.2 seconds, the improved horsepower output must be increased to at least 350 horses to achieve the set goal.
