The above upgrades will be applied to the Volkswagen Group's future new MEB models, including new models and replacement upgrades of existing models. From Volkswagen's previously announced future product plans, the new models ID Life and Aero B are expected to be launched in 2025. However, the relatively people-friendly ID Life is not expected to use the new platform, so the more high-end Aero B will become the first model after the MEB upgrade.

In addition to the increase in cruising range, the newly upgraded MEB platform will also increase the charging speed, and Volkswagen said that the charging speed of MEB electric vehicles will be increased to more than 200 kilowatts in the future. The current fastest charging speed of the MEB platform is 125kW, which means that Volkswagen intends to double it.

Also on the agenda in terms of performance, Volkswagen wants to reduce the 100-kilometer acceleration time of its fastest all-wheel-drive MEB EV to less than 5.5 seconds. At present, Volkswagen's fastest electric vehicle is 6.2 seconds of the ID.5 GTX (300 horsepower), so there is media speculation that the maximum power of Volkswagen's flagship electric vehicle in the future may be around 350 horsepower.
