Zhu Yuanzhang pointed to Xu Da's courtyard and said, "Ai Qing, this ruined mansion is too shabby, and it does not match your identity as a great hero." Give you the former residence of the Wu King's Mansion! ”。

Liu Bowen on the side listened to the shock in his heart: Broken, the emperor wants to kill! With a look in his eyes, Xu Da directly knelt down.

Chang Yuchun and Xu Da are both Zhu Yuanzhang's capable generals, but their personalities and styles of behavior are diametrically opposed.

Chang Yuchun did not belong to the 24-member team, he was originally a bandit, in The Nanjing dialect is a live haunted, he only defected to Zhu Zhuzhang in 1355. Although Chang Yuchun was heroic, he lacked wisdom, and Zhu Yuanzhang often warned him that "to defeat the enemy is courageous, and to win all victories is in strategy." In addition, Chang Yuchun has a violent personality, and every time he captures the city, he will slaughter the city at every turn, so outsiders do not have a good evaluation of him.

Xu Da is not only good at arranging troops and dispatching troops, but also has considerable wisdom and strategy, and is also very cautious. In addition, Xu Da also attacked the city without slaughtering, did not kill when surrendered, and succeeded without restraint, so his prestige in the army was extremely high, and he was all obedient to him from top to bottom.

They are also Zhu Yuanzhang's brothers, why did Xu Da's descendants add officials to the knighthood, while Chang Yuchun's descendants were killed?

We can see the reason for this through some of the events below.

At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, when Xu Da besieged Emperor Yuanshun in Kaiping, he deliberately opened a gap and let Emperor Yuanshun escape. In this regard, Chang Yuchun was very angry, because Xu Da's approach made him fail to make a great contribution. Unexpectedly, Xu Da said: "Although he (Emperor Shun) was Yidi, he once held the throne for a long time and commanded the world. If he is really caught, what will the Lord (Zhu Yuanzhang) do with him?

Will he cut up a piece of land to make him a prince, or will he be killed to show his anger? I don't think the Lord will do either, so it is most appropriate to deliberately let him run away. ”

Chang Yuchun did not agree with Xu Da's view for a while, and later returned to the Beijing Master To report that Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang did not blame and praised Xu Da for doing a good job. ”

There is another reason, Xu Da is modest and cautious, careful to deal with, and does not exceed the order of the dignity and inferiority of the monarch.

According to the etiquette system of the imperial court, Xu Daguan to the chancellor would have a considerable scale of Weihe yiwei when he went out. But he often went out in ordinary carriages and horses, and when he returned home, he also lived a frugal life, never extravagant and wasteful, or singing and dancing to boast of his nobility.

Zhu Yuanzhang once said to Xu Da: "The great general has been fighting for decades, has worked hard and made great achievements, and has never rested peacefully. I have given you the old mansion where you used to live, and you can enjoy it in peace. ”

The old mansion that Zhu Yuanzhang said was the royal palace when he was called King Wu. Xu Da resolutely resigned and refused to accept it.

One day, Zhu Yuanzhang took Xu Da to the old Wu king's mansion, designed to get Xu Da drunk, and then carried him to the bed and covered him with a quilt, hoping to force him to accept the reward in this way.

After Xu Da woke up drunk, he panicked and hurriedly got out of bed to ask Zhu Yuanzhang for his guilt. Zhu Yuanzhang was very happy to see Xu Da so humble, so he no longer forced him to accept the old palace.

Throughout Xu Da's life, he started from a small soldier and followed Zhu Yuanzhang all his life, sacrificing his life and forgetting death. He had a strong personality, fought bravely, was good at using soldiers, led large armies to the south and north many times, and gradually grew into the most outstanding general in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties in the fierce wars. Moreover, he treated people with leniency, never took credit for himself, and was extremely loyal and humble to Zhu Yuanzhang, and could be described as the first military general of the founding of the Ming Dynasty.

After Xu Da's death, Zhu Yuanzhang posthumously honored him as the King of Zhongshan, WuNing. Give the burial of Bell Mountain, deserve to enjoy the Taimiao Temple, and rank first among the heroes.
