2. Three and two for six
From the point of view of life or material form, we can look at a sentence in Lao Tzu's Forty-two Chapters: "The Tao gives birth to one, one life to two, two to three, and three to all things." There is a lot of understanding of this sentence, and I will talk about it slowly in the following links. Here, from a literal point of view, one and two do not have all things, and only to three can all things happen, which is an emphasis on three. Therefore, the three talents in Chinese culture are very important, and Confucius here uses the four words of "vast and well-prepared", that is, everything is all-encompassing.
From a simple mathematical point of view, one is a point, the other is a line, and only at three can it constitute a surface and have stability. The third is the surface, although it has stability, but it cannot yet constitute a three-dimensional shape, and it cannot combine things. And when three and two become six, the form is produced. Three and two, that is, each of the three is divided into yin and yang, which is what we often call the six combinations. The so-called Liuhe actually refers to the world with the form of the instrument as the main body, and in modern language is the material world. The things of the material world, including life forms, are described in Zhuangzi as "within the six combinations", which is the category that the sages thought could be discussed, that is, language can be expressed.
