The Olympic Games originated in ancient Greece and were named after the place where it was held in Olympia.

The "Olympics" is a religious festival in ancient Greece, an ancient Greek ancestor worship service held in Olympia, once every four years. It usually opens on the first full moon day of the northern hemisphere's summer solstice, a tradition that continues to this day.

The sports competitions in the ancestor worship activities are called "Olympia Athletics".

The word "Olympic" derives from the ancient Greek place name "Olympia", the birthplace of the ancient Olympic movement. It is said to be located in the northwest of the Peloponnese Peninsula in southern Greece, about 270 kilometers north of Mount Olympus.

In 766 BC, it developed into a national Olympic Games, and this year also became the beginning of the Greek chronicle. Thereafter, it has been held every four years and greek citizens can participate.

Now Olympia is the name of a region located in the greek city of Athens, which was the area where the first modern Olympic Games were held, thus becoming the holy land of the Olympic Movement and the place where the sacred flame was collected at each Olympic Games.

"Olympus", also known as Mount Olympus, is located in the northeastern part of Greece in the Balkan Peninsula and is part of the Olympus massive mountainous area, with an altitude of 2917 meters, which is the highest peak in greece. The summit is cloudy and snow accumulates most of the year.

Olympus means "glowing" in Greek, and Mount Olympus is the place where the gods in Greek myths and legends reside, including the main god Zeus, the goddess of wisdom Athena, the sun god Apollo, etc. The legendary sacred fire on the mountain is not extinguished all year round.

The sacred fire was first brought to earth by a god named Prometheus in ancient Greece. He saw that there was no fire in the world, and Zeus, the king of the gods, kept the fire so closely that he did not give it to the human world, so Prometheus stole the flame and gave it to mortals.

Later, every Olympic Games had to go to Olympia to get the holy flame, which was used to commemorate Prometheus who stole the fire and symbolized the passing on of the Olympic spirit.
