As we are in the commercial vehicle industry, we will naturally pay more attention to the latter, that is, the Yellow River hydrogen fuel cell heavy truck. And this car was also seen some time ago at the 2022 Cloud Business Conference of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, allowing us to understand this car at a close distance and in detail, so what is the difference between it and ordinary diesel engine models?
Low wind resistance streamlined cab, beautiful shape and fuel saving
First of all, in terms of appearance, because this Yellow River hydrogen fuel tractor is based on the ordinary Yellow River X7 model, it is no different from ordinary models in terms of appearance design.
The same pointed design, aerodynamic design is more outstanding, so that its wind resistance coefficient ≯ 0.36, has been quite close to a car, coupled with a low wind resistance trailer, the formation of the main hanging integrated low wind resistance train, more conducive to energy saving and emission reduction.
To say the difference in appearance, it may be on the side label on the door, which used to be X7 + horsepower value, and the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is replaced by FC, which should correspond to the meaning of (fuel cell fuel cell).

In addition, from the appearance of the vehicle, the chassis ground clearance is lower than that of the general model, this is because this Yellow River X7 adopts a newly developed ultra-low airbag suspension, through the electronically controlled ECAS airbag suspension + 315/60R22.5 small diameter tires, to obtain an ultra-low saddle, the ground height is only 985mm, which means that the cargo box has the opportunity to do higher and have a larger capacity.
More complex drive systems enable zero emissions
In the chassis structure is also different from the general common tractor, although it is also the chassis of the Yellow River X7, but due to the particularity of the hydrogen fuel cell system, the fuel cell system and the motor replace the previous diesel engine, in addition to the power battery, the formation of fuel cell + power battery electro-electric hybrid high-voltage electrical structure, can be seen as a hydrogen fuel cell as a range extender pure electric vehicle model, and its final emissions really achieve 0 emissions, only pure water.
The large school bag behind the cab cannot be opened, so we can only guess that it is a hydrogen storage tank that accommodates the vehicle, and the high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinder used in this system can be hydrogenated by 29.5kg at a time, providing a cruising range of about 560km, and longer than the equivalent pure electric heavy truck.
At the same time, we can also see from the cracks that this Yellow River hydrogen fuel tractor is also equipped with a charging port, and then with an on-board battery, it can realize parking and fast charging, further improve the cruising range, and save the cost of use.
Speaking of on-board batteries, the Yellow River hydrogen fuel tractor is matched with a 123kW.h power battery, which stores the electrical energy generated by the fuel cell at any time. The position where the battery is placed is generally on both sides of the chassis, which helps to reduce the center of gravity.
In terms of power, equipped with Weichai's WEF160 fuel cell engine, the power reached 160kW, and the yellow river X7 is driven by a rated power of 240kw / peak power 360kw motor, due to the characteristics of the motor, most of the time is operated at rated power, converted into our common horsepower units, about 320 horsepower, that is equivalent to the power level of heavy duty truck MC07 or Weichai WP8.
Entering the cab is not much different from ordinary models, and the same use of full LCD instruments, 10.25-inch intelligent central control screen, 220V power supply, car refrigerator, high-quality sleeper, multi-function steering wheel, in terms of comfort to meet the needs of most users.
In terms of driver assistance system, the Yellow River X7 also continues the high configuration of the original model, the most important thing is that it is equipped with L2 level advanced auxiliary driving (PPC/AEBS/LDWS/ACC), and the active and passive safety configuration is full.
It is worth mentioning that this hydrogen fuel power system is also used on the Shandeka tractor, allowing users to choose more, but also shows the versatility of this system, and perhaps it will be used in more heavy truck products in the later stage.
At present, there are not many domestic hydrogen fuel cell models, on the one hand, the cost is high, and on the other hand, the infrastructure of hydrogenation to hydrogen production needs to be improved, so that hydrogen fuel models are not so convenient to use, but under the goal of China's 2030 carbon peak 2060 carbon neutrality, the technical route of hydrogen fuel cells is one of the directions that must be broken through in the field of long-distance transportation.
