Since BYD launched DM-i last year, it has become a dazzling trump card for BYD cars, alongside EVs.

In my opinion, BYD's DM-i and EV are two sets of differently positioned products, such as Song PLUS DM-i, which focuses on long-distance, anxiety-free fuel saving; while Song PLUS EV is more suitable for cities and surroundings, green commuting.

It may be that the performance of Song PLUS DM-i is too prominent, resulting in many people easily ignoring Song PLUS EV.

Some time ago, I came to Sanya and test drove the Song PLUS EV, although the Song PLUS EV has been listed for a long time at a price of 16.98-18.68 million yuan, but this is the first time I have test-driven the Song PLUS EV.

In my opinion, I personally prefer the concise and layered exterior design of the Song PLUS EV to the Song PLUS DM-i.

The closed grille with the large size of chrome decorative strips running horizontally through, coupled with the relief design of the Song character LOGO, brings a different sense of fresh fashion. Among them, the "777" LED daily running light in the shape of the dragon's claw is full of science and technology. Its through-type taillight design is fully recognizable when lit. In recent years, BYD has become an expert in playing with lights.

The vehicle size is 4705/1890/1680mm and the wheelbase is 2765mm, which has certain size advantages in compact SUV. A little sneaky suspension roof, so that the posture of the whole car looks more sporty.

The interior style is very BYD, following BYD's fresh and simple layout tradition. The highlight is also "BYD", the rotatable 12.8-inch large screen, which epitomizes the practicality and technological sense of the DiLink locomotive system.

It has to be said that the sense of premium created by the overall exterior interior of the BYD Song family makes both the driver and the passenger feel comfortable.

So will the driving experience of the Song PLUS EV be so comfortable?

The first feeling of getting started is, smooth. Compared with gasoline cars, there are no problems such as various ups and downs of the gearbox and slow gear change, which is the natural advantage of pure electric cars. However, pure electric cars that are not done well will also have a power setback, which will cause people to feel dizzy.

To be able to achieve a textured power output feeling, the adjustment of the Ashkenazi master Hans should be indispensable.

The chassis is designed with a front McPherson rear multi-link independent suspension design, which is very well filtered for fine bumps on the road, crisp and clean, and brings good toughness. When cornering at high speeds, the roll is minimal and the driving confidence is sufficient.

If I cover up the logo, I thought at one point I was driving a Mercedes benz car. Since BYD and Mercedes-Benz cooperated, BYD has indeed been deeply influenced by Mercedes-Benz: becoming a disciple of quality car manufacturing. Whether it is from the small details of the interior design or the chassis tuning, you can feel the great influence of Mercedes-Benz on it.

In terms of power, the Maximum Power of the Song PLUS EV motor is 135 kW (184PS) and the peak torque is 280 N·m.

It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate blade battery with a battery capacity of 71.7 kWh. The vehicle supports the maximum 90kW DC fast charging function, which can be charged from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.

Equipped with blade batteries, it is already standard for BYD cars, and other standards include battery intelligent temperature control management system, distributed power battery management and pulsed self-heating system.

The Song PLUS EV NEDC has a range of 505km, which is decent, but the city commute is completely enough. With the popularity of public charging settings, it is not impossible to travel long distances.

The car is available in four driving modes: ECO, NORMAL, SPORT and snow. In general, NORML mode is recommended, which is the most comfortable driving mode, and the power output and door response sensitivity are relatively moderate.

If you want more rapid power, switch to SPORT, the motor speed increases, the electric door response is very fast, the push back feeling is also stronger, and the speed becomes easy to reach, very "on the head". Of course, the faster the speed, the faster the power loss.

During the test drive in Sanya (the local temperature was more than 20 degrees), we drove the Song PLUS EV on the high speed, also took the country road, and also encountered traffic jams, after simple conversion, the basic table endurance is close to the actual endurance. This shows that in better temperatures, the endurance of the Song PLUS EV is still relatively reliable.

Overall test drive down, in my opinion, in the range of 15-20 million compact pure electric SUV, the choice will not be too much, although the Song PLUS EV is not the strongest in technology, but if you want a more balanced model of technology and practicality, I will recommend the Song PLUS EV.

From the product level, balance is king, and just being a "single champion" cannot go deeper and farther.

From the perspective of the Song family, there are gasoline versions, EV versions, Pro versions, DM-i versions, and each model under the Song family gives full play to its own value, and the family glory is truly built up, which is the "comprehensive champion".
