The reason why it can pick up is mainly that the new car launch cycle is steadily advancing, from Ruiji, medium-term redesign of Ruijie, and then to last year's EVOS, the product lineup is becoming more and more abundant, and consumers have more choices.
Of course, there is still a big gap between the annual sales of 238,000 passenger cars and the peak of the past, so Ford continues to release new cars, just recently bringing a new generation of Mondeo.
This generation of Mondeo is no longer a global model, but has become a domestic specialty. I believe that many friends here have begun to doubt the quality, after all, in China, special supply is not a positive word. But you don't have to worry, although Mondeo does not sell overseas, a large part of the research and development and testing of new cars is carried out in Europe, which is why the earliest Mondeo spy photos are from foreign media reports.
In terms of appearance, the new Mondeo uses the latest design language of the family, which is highly similar to the EVOS released last year. Although the Mondeo of the previous generation of "Martin Face" is already very young, the new model looks more in line with the current aesthetic needs. The interior of the large intake grille is covered with diamond-shaped decorative parts, which not only take into account the function of active air intake, but also can be undulating and swinging when unlocking the vehicle, which is quite ceremonial. The headlights on both sides are designed in a split type, and there is also a section of LED through the light strip in the middle, which looks like an electric vehicle.
When testing the car's condition, I thought it was a slip-on body, but the new car still took a relatively safe sedan route, perhaps taking into account the older consumers. The blackened roof brings a nice fashion atmosphere, and the hidden door handle makes the visual effect more integrated. In terms of size, the new car has a length, width and height of 4935 * 1875 * 1500mm, and a wheelbase of 2945mm, which is close to the C-class sedan.
The rear of the car has an extended duck tail design, the through-type taillights echo the front face, the LED light group is very delicate after lighting, and the lower surround adopts a hidden exhaust layout.
At the press conference, only a shape was announced, and the interior was not exhibited, but according to the level of Mondeo, the interior design of the car is likely to match EVOS, the through-type large screen is up to 1.1 meters, the visual effect is very shocking, the built-in SYNC+ car machine system, and most of the functions that are used more frequently every day are integrated. However, I personally feel that this set of design is somewhat simple and rough, and it lacks some design sense.
As we all know, Ford's sincerity in terms of power performance has always been relatively high, and the new Mondeo will give priority to a 2.0T turbocharged engine, with a maximum horsepower of 238 horses, a peak torque of 376 Nm, and a transmission system matching an 8AT gearbox. In the later stage, it is not ruled out that the 1.5T version will be launched in order to lower the purchase threshold.
Model prospects
Although the specific configuration of the new car and the list of models have not yet been fully disclosed, for consumers, the price is the key to affecting their motivation to buy a car. For the final price of the Mondeo, you can refer to the Ford EVOS. The two cars are extremely similar in size and power, and Mondeo can even be seen as a sedan version of EVOS. The current official guidance price of EVOS is 199,800-25.98 million yuan, but the configuration of 199,800 yuan is not retailed to ordinary consumers, so the actual starting price is 229,800 yuan. Generally speaking, the price of the same class of cars is slightly lower than that of SUVs, which will be about 20,000-30,000 yuan, so I guess the final price of the new Mondeo will be around 18-23.
In any case, the arrival of the new model in addition to the previous Mondeo car series "lying flat" state, into the more Chinese car thinking of Mondeo is bound to be more pleasing to domestic consumers, but also more in line with Ford's original "more Ford", "more Chinese" slogan.
