Compared with Ferrari, McLaren and other supercar brands that have launched new energy power models, Lamborghini has always insisted on using large-displacement self-priming engines such as 5.2-liter V10 and 6.5-liter V12, keeping the last "bottom line" of supercar models in power. And from last year's market performance, Lamborghini delivered a total of 8405 new cars in 2021, with sales up 13% year-on-year. In the case of long-term insistence on pure fuel power and market performance is still good, Lamborghini suddenly announced a complete transformation, which is indeed very surprising.
But under the wave of new energy, even Lamborghini cannot escape the new energy. From the perspective of power, the 5.2-liter V10, 6.5-liter V12 and 4.0TV8 engines used by Lamborghini models are "not environmentally friendly" wherever they are placed, especially in the European market, which has strict requirements for displacement and emissions. In terms of transformation plans, Lamborghini said it has prepared 1.5 billion euros (about 10.758 billion yuan) for the development and launch of plug-in hybrid models. It is reported that Lamborghini's first plug-in hybrid model will be released and launched in 2023, while the pure electric model is expected to be launched in 2025. According to Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini's first all-electric model may be a four-door model that is more inclined to everyday use.
However, before 2023, Lamborghini will still update its fuel model. This year, Lamborghini will officially deliver the Aventador Ultimae, which will also be the last pure fuel V12 powered model launched by Lamborghini. At the same time, the new Urus Eov is also about to complete testing, and is expected to be officially released in the second half of this year.
The era of supercar new energy has come?
