On the day of Chevrolet's pick-up, the engine failure lights came on, and the owner's claim for compensation was rejected

■ Press: The car has a malfunction on the day of pick-up? How should car owners appeal and defend their rights?

On the day of pick-up, the engine failure light was turned on, which was a bad thing that Chevrolet owner Ms. Xie encountered.

Recently, Ms. Xie told Consumer Report that her Chevrolet car had its engine failure lights on several times after picking up the car. To this end, Ms. Xie questioned the quality problem of the vehicle itself, and asked the 4S store and SAIC-GM to provide corresponding compensation measures, but it was not met, so Ms. Xie also posted a complaint on the black cat complaint platform.

Why do new cars keep turning on fault lights? Can the problem be cured? Can Ms. Xie's rights protection claims be resolved? Consumer Report conducted an interview on this.

The engine failure light is on the day of pick-up

"The car broke down on the day I picked up, and I really couldn't accept it." Ms. Xie said in an interview with Consumer Report.

At the end of December 2021, Ms. Xie purchased a 2022 Chevrolet Cruze Light Hybrid Auto-10 Version at a Chevrolet official 4S store in Suzhou and picked it up on December 28. Unexpectedly, the car brought distress to Ms. Xie.

"On December 28, I picked up the car from the 4S shop and drove home, and the engine failure light on the dashboard of the car was turned on that day." Ms. Xie said that she did not know what the vehicle had failed at the time, so she sent the car to the 4S store where the car was purchased the next day for maintenance.

Ms. Xie said that at that time, the staff of the 4S store did not tell the specific reason for the engine failure light, "just simply eliminated the fault code, let me drive the car away."

On the night of retrieving the vehicle, Ms. Xie was driving home when she found that the engine failure light appeared again on the vehicle dashboard. "It was only after the daytime overhaul, and at night the engine failure lights came on again, and I don't think it's a small problem."

Two days after picking up the car, Ms. Xie's car lit up the engine failure lights one after another. In desperation, Ms. Xie had to send the car to the 4S shop for maintenance again.

The new car particle trap sensor fails

The second time to overhaul, the 4S store after-sales personnel inspected and found that some parts of Ms. Xie's vehicle engine were faulty, mainly because the particle capture sensor circuit voltage was too high, the digital signal was too high or too low.

To this end, the 4S store replaced Ms. Xie's vehicle with a new particle trapper sensor. Ms. Xie said that after replacing the new parts, the vehicle did not have the problem of engine failure lights turning on for the time being.

However, Ms. Xie questioned that the new car has repeatedly lit up the engine failure light, indicating that the car itself may have quality problems. "I think the quality of the vehicle should not let consumers pay, the new car to repair has depreciated the vehicle, and this replacement of parts, I do not know whether I can cure the fault, I submitted a claim for economic compensation to the 4S store and SAIC-GM, but did not get the consent of the other party."

To this end, in response to the problem reflected by Ms. Xie, Consumer Reports got in touch with the Chevrolet 4S store where Ms. Xie bought the car, and the customer service staff of the 4S store said that they would first give feedback to the relevant person in charge, and as of press time, Consumer Report had not received a further detailed reply.

At the same time, Consumer Reports sent an interview letter to THE ACIC-GM side, but had not received a reply as of press time.

Guo Xiaoming, a lawyer at Shanghai Zhonglian (Chengdu) Law Firm, a well-known legal blogger @ Tandian, pointed out that according to the provisions of the latest automobile three-guarantee policy, household automobile products are within 60 days from the date of the validity period of the three-pack period or within 3,000 kilometers of the mileage (whichever comes first), due to quality problems in the main parts of the engine, consumers can choose to replace the relevant parts with the three-pack voucher, and the seller should replace them free of charge. If the engine is replaced twice due to quality problems, or the same major parts are replaced twice due to quality problems and still cannot be used normally, consumers can ask the seller to return or replace the car.

"In this case, the 4S shop has replaced the vehicle with new parts, and if the vehicle still has the same fault after the same quality problem has been replaced by the same quality problem, the owner can ask the 4S shop to return the car or change the car." As for the claim for economic compensation, there is no provision and provision in the three-guarantee policy for the car that meets the above situation, and the owner can choose to negotiate with the 4S store and the SAIC-GM manufacturer on his own, and if the two parties fail to negotiate, it is suggested that the owner can request the consumer association to intervene in mediation, or complain to the market supervision department, or directly file a lawsuit with the people's court. Guo Xiaoming said.
