According to foreign media reports on January 18, a couple of farmers in New Zealand were recently angered because they were forced to agree to a DNA test on their home-grown potato to prove that it was indeed a potato. Colin and Donna Craig-Brown say they grow "the biggest potato in the world," but those people don't think it's necessarily a potato.

It is reported that the couple planted a giant potato weighing 7.8 kilograms in their vegetable garden and named it "Doug". Doug weighs twice as much as the average human newborn and must undergo DNA testing to be recorded in the world record. Colin said they had to send a sample of Doug to Scotland and have it validated by experts, agronomists and field scientists.

It is reported that part of the "Doug" will be tested at the Scottish Agricultural Science and Advice Research Institute. They will genotyping "Doug" to determine if it is a potato and to determine what variety it is. Guinness World Records confirmed that they had contacted the relevant agencies, but the sample of "Doug" had not yet been delivered.

And, in order to show off their giant potatoes, they built a small car to drag the "Doug" around the town.
