The first pioneer of Italian humanist thought, the poet Dante. Ali Guéli (1265-1321) was the first to raise the question of national unity. Dante was active in politics in his youth, being elected consul of Florence in 1300, and after the victory of the Papal Party in Florence in 1301, Dante was exiled in 1302, lived a long life of wandering, and finally died. In the era in which Dante lived, the development of the Italian economy objectively put forward the demand for the unification of the country. But papal rule prevented Italy from forming a centralized state. Dante's experience in political activity in Florence made him strongly opposed to the theocracy of the Pope. His treatise On Monarchy, written between 1310 and 1313, argues the legitimacy of a unified empire from the perspective of ancient Roman history and refutes the argument that the church is superior to the state. In the light of the situation in Italy at that time, he ruthlessly exposed the consequences of the Pope's intervention in politics, and especially hated the Avignon Pope for colluding with the King of France to obstruct the unity of Italy. What is the way out? Dante believed that the way out lay in reviving the Roman Empire. He meditated, sometimes fantasizing about the birth of a hero, killing the church prostitutes who defiled the world and hooking up with her to do evil giants (the king of France), sometimes pinning his hopes on a powerful foreign monarch. In 1308, when Dante learned that Henry VII, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, had been elected Holy Roman Emperor and attacked Italy, he wanted to use the emperor's forces to unify Italy. So he contacted his fellow party members everywhere and began his political activities again. Naturally, Dante's practice of seeking skin with tigers can only result in a yellow beam.
