At 7:00 a.m. on January 4, 2022, on the playground of Kangshengzhuang Central Primary School in Linqing City, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, more than a dozen children of about 10 years old greeted the rising sun and began to run exercises. After warming up for 800 meters, they began a 30-minute dryland hockey session. On cold winter days, the frozen red ears and tip of the nose did not affect the enthusiasm of these children to participate in exercise.

"Li Ruotong, pay attention to the holding position." "Cui Rongxuan, intercept the ball from the left, well, pass to Zhao Zhihao." Chu Fuguo, a dryland hockey teacher at The Kangzhuang Town United School, ran while correcting the irregular movements among the small team members. After a series of instructions, the two sides on the dryland ice rink played fiercely, and the score was comparable.

"Now, children have been able to basically grasp the essentials of exercise, and some sports skills can only be realized by constantly practicing." Chu Fu Guo said. Open the door of the equipment room, in addition to the neatly arranged various sports equipment, the most eye-catching is a wall of honor and a row of trophies, among these awards, the most important is the "2021 Youth U Series Dryland Hockey Championship and the Seventh ISPOShanghai National Youth Dryland Hockey Championship Runner-up", next to the award certificate There is also a group photo of the winner at that time, and the children's faces are full of winning joy.

In 2017, a coincidence made Chufu Guo, who was in the countryside of northwest Lu, know about the sport of dryland ice hockey for the first time. Although he studied sports during college, he still had a momentary trance when this new sports program was in front of him.

Is this sport suitable for those of us in the village?

In November 2017, two other teachers from Chufu Guo and Linqing City boarded a train to Shanghai to investigate the feasibility of the sport in rural schools.

Chu Fuguo said that the reason why dryland hockey can be promoted in the countryside is partly because the project has very little restriction on the venue, and they started training on the cement playground. In recent years, with the gradual maturity of the project, with the strong support of higher departments and non-profit organizations, they have a standard training ground. On the other hand, the game uses carbon fiber lightweight clubs, and the match balls are hollowed out lightweight plastic balls. The rules of the tournament require that the swing of the club must be below the player's knee, and most of the collisions in the game are carried out between the clubs and clubs, so the safety factor is relatively high. In rural areas with inadequate facilities, the dryland hockey program brings new experiences to rural children.

"Participating in the 7th National Youth Dryland Hockey Competition, I took 12 children to Shanghai, these children do not say Shanghai, some may not even go out of Linqing City. Although facing a city team with better conditions and facilities, we children, with solid technology and strong perseverance, finally finished second with only one goal difference. "Tears welled up in Chu Fuguo's eyes, and his thoughts returned to the scene of the game where you chased after me and were comparable." This award is already an encouragement to us, this competition not only broadens the children's horizons, but also strengthens the direction of their efforts. ”

On the wall of honor, there is also a certificate that makes all the teachers and students of Kangshengzhuang Central Primary School proud. In June 2020, Kangshengzhuang Central Primary School was rated as a special school for campus ice and snow sports by the Ministry of Education and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee.

In a city of northwest Luzhou, where ice and snow are rare, dryland ice hockey, as a derivative of the ice hockey project, is a sport with no region, no season, safety and low cost, and was listed by the State General Administration of Sport as one of the ice and snow promotion projects for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in February 2019. Both dryland hockey and ice hockey playing grounds are fenced, and the techniques of the clubs are completely the same. Dryland hockey wears helmets and protective gear like hockey, and the rules of the game are extremely close. In dryland hockey, you can master the art of pole skating by training, then learn roller skating and slowly adapt to roller skating ice hockey, and then you can transition from roller skating to ice hockey after full proficiency.

"In dryland hockey, I had fun, and when I grow up, I want to win glory for my motherland like an Olympic athlete." Zhao Hongkang, who won the top scorer at the 7th National Youth Dryland Hockey Championship in Shanghai in 2021, said. Zhao Hongkang, who has now entered junior high school, has not given up the dryland ice hockey project, and the Kangzhuang Town Joint School has also tried to promote the dryland ice hockey project in the middle school.

"Dryland hockey is a great entry into the sport of ice hockey. In some cities, when children first touch ice hockey, they are more limited by the venue and environment, and it will be more difficult. First fully master the dryland ice hockey, the next step is to train the roller skating well, and when the roller skating is combined with the technology on the pole, then the ice will make rapid progress. Understanding the ice and snow project with the characteristics of dryland ice hockey is the first step for us to help ice and snow sports. Han Ligeng, deputy director of the Linqing Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports, said, "Dryland hockey is just a beginning, giving children an entrance and foundation, and in the future we will slowly let children learn more about ice and snow projects." ”

"Many children participate in various sports competitions from an early age, and the cultivation and promotion of this culture is helpful for children's lives." Children participate in team sports, become one of them, learn not to give up easily, and cope with all kinds of difficulties and challenges in life. Cui Jianjiu, principal of Kangshengzhuang Central Primary School, said.
