Yesterday, Xiaopeng Motors announced that the price of its models on sale has been raised across the line, with an increase ranging from 4300 yuan to 5900 yuan. So far, the new car-making brand that insisted on not increasing prices for 10 days in the new year finally responded to the impact of the decline of the subsidy policy for new energy vehicles with price increases. Up to now, Tesla, Nezha, Xiaopeng, GAC Eian, Zero Run and other new car-making forces brands have directly or indirectly raised the price of their electric vehicles.
However, in contrast, the new energy vehicles under traditional car companies such as BMW, BYD, Roewe, Chery and other brands not only did not increase prices, but many models also had preferential promotions.

Xiaopeng announced a price increase across the board
According to the price of the latest subsidy for all models announced by Xiaopeng Automobile yesterday, the Xiaopeng P7 series rose by 4300-5900 yuan, and the price after the latest subsidy was 224,200-409,900 yuan; the Xiaopeng P5 series rose by 4800-5400 yuan, and the price after the latest subsidy was 162,700-229,300 yuan; the SUV model G3i rose by 4800-5400 yuan, and the latest subsidy price was 154,600-193,200 yuan.
Although Xiaopeng Automobile did not explain the reason for the price increase, stating that it was only for the price adjustment, and there was no change in design, configuration and other aspects, industry insiders analyzed that the price adjustment was related to the latest new energy vehicle subsidy policy issued by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other four ministries and commissions before New Year's Day.
On December 31, 2021, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and other four ministries and commissions jointly issued the Notice on the Financial Subsidy Policy for the Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles in 2022 (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"). According to the Notice, in 2022, the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles will be reduced by 30% on the basis of 2021. The subsidy policy for the purchase of new energy vehicles in 2022 will be terminated on December 31, 2022, and vehicles licensed after December 31, 2022 will no longer be subsidized.
Under the subsidy policy for new energy passenger cars in 2022, the purchase of pure electric passenger cars with a cruising range of 300 (inclusive) to 400 km will only be subsidized by 0.91 million yuan, the purchase of electric vehicles with a cruising range greater than 400 km (inclusive) will be subsidized by 12,600 yuan, and the purchase of plug-in hybrid passenger cars with a cruising range of more than 50 km (including range extenders) will be subsidized by 0.48 million yuan.
Compared with 2021, consumers who purchase the same new energy model will enjoy subsidies of 3900 yuan, 5400 yuan and 2000 yuan in 2022, respectively.
The decline in subsidies means that the price of cars will rise, and this part of the cost will be borne either by the manufacturer or directly by the consumer.
After the announcement of the policies of the four ministries and commissions, Xiaopeng Automobile announced that car buyers who ordered before 24:00 on January 10, 2022 can continue to enjoy subsidies according to the standards of 2021, and the difference will be partially made up by Xiaopeng. Yesterday happened to be the day this promotion policy expired, and it is not surprising that the price has risen.
A brand of new power to build cars
Successive price increases in response
After the subsidy for new energy vehicles declined, the brands that chose to postpone the price increase were Weilai Automobile. According to the 2022 car purchase subsidy plan released by NIO before New Year's Day, users who paid a deposit to purchase ES8, ES6 and EC6 before December 31, 2021 (inclusive) and car before March 31, 2022, can still enjoy subsidies in accordance with the 2021 national subsidy standards, and the difference will be borne by NIO. At present, whether Weilai will raise the price is not clear for the time being.
Tesla reacted the fastest. Tesla raised the price of the rear-wheel drive version of the Model 3 and Model Y models before New Year's Day, with an increase of 10,000 yuan and 21,000 yuan respectively. Among them, after the price of Model Y rises, the price of the whole series will be higher than 300,000 yuan, and it will not be able to enjoy the national subsidy policy according to the standard. At present, in the entire Tesla product list, only the Model 3 rear-wheel drive version can enjoy new energy vehicle subsidies.
Nezha Automobile also raised the price of the models on sale at the beginning of the year, and the prices of the models equipped with Nezha V Pro, Nezha V and Nezha U Pro were adjusted, and the price increase ranged from 3000-10000 yuan. Among them, the 400 endurance version, 500 global version, 500 moon landing version and 610 fire exploration version of Nezha U Pro were adjusted to 104,800 yuan, 132,800 yuan, 142,800 yuan and 162,800 yuan respectively.
The zero-run T03 also raised its price on December 28 last year, taking advantage of the opportunity of the launch of the 2022 model, and the price of the entry-level version was raised from 58,900 yuan to 68,900 yuan, an increase of 10,000 yuan. The official price increase is due to the increase in some configurations, but industry insiders analyze that some of the reasons may also be related to the decline of the subsidy policy for new energy vehicles.
Also taking advantage of the new listing opportunity to increase the price is GAC Aeon. The price of the 2022 GAC Aion S Plus and the 2022 GAC Aion Y has increased compared with the older models, of which the 2022 GAC Aian Y top model has risen by 9,000 yuan, and even been questioned by netizens about the "price increase and allocation reduction".
Traditional car companies "do not move"

Compared with the new forces of car manufacturing, the price of new energy vehicles of traditional car companies is relatively stable, and there is basically no increase at present. Among them, FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen have launched a policy of deferring subsidies for their ID. series electric vehicles, and consumers who buy cars before February 28 can continue to enjoy the subsidy policy in 2021. On the official websites of the two car companies, the prices of ID.6 CROZZ, ID.4 CROZZ, ID.6X, and ID.3 have not changed.
A sales consultant of a BYD 4S store in Hangzhou said that the current price of BYD's new energy vehicles is the same as before New Year's Day, and has not received the manufacturer's price adjustment notice, taking Han DM as an example, the official guidance price is still 219,800 yuan (after subsidies), and the car booking in the store can also be discounted by 3,000 yuan, but the subsequent price will not be adjusted, and it is not known.
Dealers of traditional car companies such as SAIC Roewe, Euler, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Chery and so on also said that there is no change in prices at present, and some preferential policies have continued to exist before.
BMW's current sale of 5 series plug-in hybrid, iX3 manufacturer guidance price has not been adjusted, dealer terminals still have 50,000-70,000 yuan of promotions.
An industry insider who did not want to be named believes that the reason why the coping strategies of traditional car companies and new car-making forces are different, on the one hand, are related to the different competitiveness of their respective products, the electric vehicles of new car-making forces are relatively more acceptable among consumers, and the impact of price increases is smaller; on the other hand, traditional car companies are more powerful, there is no financial pressure of new car-making forces, and the profits earned by traditional models can still offset the impact of subsidy decline.
Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the National Passenger Car Market Information Joint Association, said: "The subsidy decline of 30% will have a certain impact on the growth rate of new energy vehicles, and car companies are facing the challenges of the post-subsidy era and will inevitably adjust prices." However, price increases are a short-term phenomenon, and if car companies want to remain competitive, price declines are a long-term trend. ”
