Compared with other brands or Mercedes-Benz's own concept cars, the shape of the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX is closer to the state of the mass production car, and there is no overly exaggerated design concept, and every carefully crafted detail is considering practicality and functionality.
The flat front shape brings a relatively low visual effect, the LED light strip that runs across the left and right is very eye-catching, and the design of the headlight group, each lens of the headlight is decorated with a three-point daily running light around it, and the shape just forms the Mercedes-Benz three-pronged star logo. In addition, the closed front grille is decorated with a dot-matrix xinghui logo, the Mercedes-Benz logo above is actually covered with stickers, and the design of the two ventilation holes can further optimize the wind resistance.
The roof draws a graceful and slender arc backwards from the B-pillar, creating a sense of déjà vu of a large car, but the vision EQXX has a wheelbase of only 2800 mm, which is much shorter than the new C-class. What's more, the unique body design brings excellent aerodynamic performance, and the wind resistance coefficient of the whole vehicle is only 0.17Cd.
In terms of reducing wind resistance, the tires and rims are also indispensable. Seven-spoke magnesium alloy closed rims with fine neodymium gold trims to further comb the front wheel turbulence with the front fender design, the tires are in the Bridgestone Tunza Eco low-drag series, with a specification of 185/65 R20. The rear shape is more sci-fi, with a multi-striped wrap-around tail light cluster and cross-section, and an active bottom diffuser below that automatically extends at high speeds to optimize aerodynamics.
Just as we first saw Mercedes-Benz's dual screen design, the interior atmosphere of vision EQXX can still surprise us, and the collision of minimalist style and technology also indicates the future design direction of Mercedes-Benz. Of course, a completely seamless 47.5-inch LED display in the car brings a very shocking visual effect, the resolution can reach 7680 * 660 pixels (8K), the UI interactive interface draws on the graphic design concept of the game industry, combined with automatic driving technology, can bring an immersive experience.
On this concept car, we can see a large number of innovative materials. The Dinamica imitation fur surface in the carriage is 38% made of recycled PET plastic bottles, the long-staple carpet is woven with 100% bamboo fiber, and the white leather seat is made of Mylo material cultivated from fungi, which is in line with the concept of sustainability.
In terms of power, the electric drive system of the VISION EQXX concept car has a maximum power of 204 horsepower (150 kW), the battery pack has nearly 100 kWh of energy, compared with the new EQS battery pack, its size is reduced by 50%, the weight is reduced by 30%, the energy consumption of 100 km is less than 10 kWh, and the single charge endurance is more than 1000 km, which can achieve 95% energy efficiency level.
Although the VISION EQXX has the name of the concept car, from the perspective of configuration and design, many of them have let us see what it will look like after mass production. Whether it is extremely low wind resistance performance, excellent aerodynamics or amazing through-screen, Mercedes-Benz shows us new ideas for the future, and under the general trend of electrification, Mercedes-Benz can still grasp the direction of the times in the position of leader.
