It is reported that the road test began at the company's Electrical Software Center (ESH) in Sindelfingen, Germany, and ended in the French coastal town of Cassis, with a total mileage of 626 miles (about 1007.4 kilometers). The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX took a total of 11 hours and 32 minutes to complete the test, and the vehicle's apparent endurance was still 140 kilometers after reaching the finish line, which meant that the actual endurance of the car could exceed 1100 kilometers.
Most of the roads in this test are highways that are not friendly to pure electric vehicles, including altitude changes, mountain road tunnels, etc., and the average speed of the test vehicles has reached 87.4km/h, and the cruising speed on unlimited speed highways is 140km/h. It is worth mentioning that the test environment is a completely open road, including other social vehicles, traffic jams, rainy environments, and road construction areas.
Based on the test mileage and electricity, the average energy consumption of the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX to complete the test is 8.7kWh/100km. Obviously, this data is even lower than the power consumption of some small cars in an ideal environment, so how does Mercedes-Benz do it?
First of all, from the appearance point of view, Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX's vehicle shape is streamlined design, the roof curve is smooth and smooth, and it extends gracefully to the rear like a water droplet, which makes the wind resistance coefficient of the new car only 0.17Cd, compared with the wind resistance of ordinary models 0.25-0.3Cd, its endurance can be increased by tens of kilometers.
The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX has a body length of 4630mm and a wheelbase of 2800mm, which is slightly smaller than the Model 3. The powertrain of the whole car was developed by Mercedes-Benz in cooperation with F1 experts from High Performance Powertrain Co., Ltd. (HPP), with a maximum power of 180 kW, which can directly transfer 95% of the battery energy to the wheels.
In addition, the solar panels on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX can fully replenish the vehicle's energy, providing an additional cruising range of up to 25 kilometers. The tires of the vehicle are also specially made by Mercedes-Benz in cooperation with Bridgestone, which reduces the rolling resistance coefficient of the tires to 4.7, further reducing the energy consumption of the vehicle.
