Back in January 2020, Sony unveiled the Vision-S 01 concept car at cess, but Sony is still unsure about its future electric vehicle plans. Until recently, Sony returned to CES with the new Vision-S 02 concept car and made a major announcement: Sony Mobility will be established in the spring of 2022 to focus on the development of pure electric vehicles, and these two concept cars may also be available in mass production in the future.
If the future competitor of Vision-S 01 is the Model S, then the future competitor of this new Vision-S 02 will be the Model X, which indicates that the Vision-S 02 will become a pure electric SUV model, and the new car will be very similar to the Tesla Model Y on the side of the body. The new concept car has a body length of 4895/1930/1650mm, a staggering wheelbase of 3030mm, a chassis clearance of 157mm, and a very wide interior space.
In terms of interior, the new Vision-S 02 concept car is basically the same as the internal design of Vision-S 01, the interior design is very simple, the central control adopts a penetrating triple screen design, the screen size is very wide, and it is also equipped with a small touch screen to replace the physical buttons in the car. The new car adopts a 7-seat layout, and the front seats are also equipped with two large LCD screens, which has a strong sense of technology in the car. In addition, the car is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, which has a very wide view.
In the power part, the new car will be equipped with dual motors and all-wheel drive, each motor can reach a maximum power of 200kW, due to the increased weight and resistance, the new car has a maximum speed of 180km/h. Sony attaches great importance to safety systems, equipping new cars with a large number of safety-related sensors and equipped with a new intelligent car networking system. In addition, Sony has already tested the ADAS system in Europe, and the new car will support L2+ level autonomous driving technology, and will be upgraded to L4 level or even L5 automatic driving in the future.
