This year's E3 game show is the first offline exhibition since the outbreak of the epidemic, and is no longer organized by the Entertainment Software Association, but outsourced to global pop culture event production company ReedPop, so this year's E3 will be a new exhibition after the redesign.
According to VGC sources, Nintendo decided to skip this year's E3 Game Show because the company didn't have enough games to showcase at the show. Nintendo has previously been one of E3's biggest supporters and showed up in showrooms at its last in-person event in 2019, while PlayStation and Xbox didn't. In addition, this news may also confirm the previous rumor that "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" is the last large-scale first-party game on the Switch, and Nintendo may already be preparing for the successor console of the Switch.
As for Sony, it has not participated in the E3 Game Show since 2019, and in 2021, Sony announced that the E3 Game Show has fallen short of expectations, and in other activities that interact with players, better communication can be achieved, so it chose to withdraw from the E3 Game Show.
Meanwhile, IGN reported that Microsoft will be in some form this year for its summer showcase, but not at the Los Angeles Convention Center (where E3 is held), while VGC sources say Microsoft is in discussions that they may participate as sponsors of E3 if they don't set up a booth.
