Li Dazhao
On April 28, 1927, Li Dazhao was pushed to the gallows by the minions of the warlord Zhang Zuolin.
In the face of the impending death, Li Dazhao's eyes had no fear, only calmness. After chanting "sacrifice for the ism", Li Dazhao, who was only 38 years old, was heroic and righteous!
After the founding of New China, the Party Central Committee restarted the case of Li Dazhao's murder and made up its mind to bring to justice the evil man who killed Li Dazhao!
In 1951, all suspects involved in the murder of Li Dazhao were arrested. However, in the process of interrogation, the staff found a sad fact: Comrade Li Dazhao was hanged that year, and the punishment time was as long as 40 minutes!
What really happened back then? Why was Comrade Li Dazhao hanged for up to 40 minutes? What kind of conspiracy is hidden behind this heart-wrenching truth?
Persisting in the revolution, Li Dazhao eventually became a thorn in the eye of Zhang Zuolin, the "king of the Northeast."
"Try to see the future of the world, it will be the world of red flags!"
This is the prophecy made by Li Dazhao after the October Revolution in Russia. He keenly saw the impact that this revolution would have on the world, and also saw the hope for the independence of the Chinese nation and the liberation of the people!
In China in the 1920s and 1930s, there were oppression by the upper powers, warlords at the bottom, and a great revolution set off by people of insight in the middle. In such an environment, various new ideas constantly collided, forming the unique colors of that era.
Among these colors, the most dazzling is Marxist thought. Li Dazhao, on the other hand, was the earliest propagator of Marxism in China.
However, these things that Li Dazhao did hindered the eyes of some warlords!
In 1927, Zhang Zuolin, who was in Beijing, found that Li Dazhao, who had long since disappeared, was still very active in various newspapers and public opinion, and the activities of the local communist party did not stop. Therefore, Zhang Zuolin concluded that Li Dazhao must still be hiding somewhere in Beijing!
Therefore, Zhang Zuolin immediately ordered that even if it was three feet into the ground, Li Dazhao should be dug out!
It can be seen that Zhang Zuolin, known as the "King of the Northeast", hated Li Dazhao to the bone. Why? What exactly did Li Dazhao do?
Zhang Zuolin
You must know that Zhang Zuolin's attitude toward the Communist Party and the Kuomintang was similar, and he did not reach the point of shouting, shouting, killing, and killing. After the "revolutionaries" are caught, they usually let people beat them up in prison, blackmail some money, and finally scare them and release them.
However, the series of actions made by Li Dazhao made Zhang Zuolin, who was a warlord, feel very threatened!
First of all, under Li Dazhao's tie, the energy of the Communist Party of China has become more and more powerful, and various public opinions and movements have annoyed Zhang Zuolin. In the long run, the rule of the warlords had to be completely overthrown! Therefore, Zhang Zuolin believes that if he does not start as soon as possible, the northeast of the old Zhang family will be difficult to protect!
Second, the most important point is that under the leadership of Li Dazhao, the Chinese Communist Party has signs of reaching out to the army. This is the "death pit" that moved Zhang Zuolin! For a warlord, the army is the so-called "foundation of the body".
And Li Dazhao once plotted against a general under Zhang Zuolin: Guo Songling. This led to heavy losses for Zhang Zuolin. Still in danger. After that, Li Dazhao also successfully united Feng Yuxiang and the newly established coalition government in the south to target Zhang Zuolin, the "King of the Northeast".
In Zhang Zuolin's view, if this group of students and talents who have no guns in their hands gather together to shout slogans and demonstrate, it will not be a big deal. After all, at that time, every three to five minutes across the country would hold a parade. Zhang Zuolin also didn't bother to go to the street every day to arrest people, and at most he would let people shoot and shock them when they made a big fuss.
However, the army is his "lifeblood", and he will not allow anyone to touch it!
This was the fundamental reason why Zhang Zuolin had to arrest Li Dazhao!
Li Dazhao was arrested, and Zhang Zuolin had difficulty riding a tiger
On April 6, 1927, Zhang Zuolin's wu yuwen, Chen Xingya, Lei Hengcheng, and others led more than 300 gendarmes and policemen to break into the embassy area of Frozen Jiaomin Lane, where Li Dazhao was hiding, and arrested Li Dazhao and dozens of other CCP members.
When the incident occurred suddenly, Li Dazhao and the party members had no defenses, and the experience of underground workers at that time was not particularly sufficient. As a result, not only was Li Dazhao and the party members arrested, but some important documents were not destroyed in time, and eventually fell into the hands of the enemy.
In fact, on the day of Li Dazhao's arrest, he actually wanted to shoot back, but he considered that his little daughter was around. In order to ensure the safety of his daughter, Li Dazhao did not shoot.
In the end, Li Dazhao's Browning pistol was taken away by the deputy director of the reconnaissance department who came to arrest him, and then he took it for himself.
However, although Zhang Zuolin had already arrested Li Dazhao, he was eager to kill him immediately. However, this matter is not as simple as Zhang Zuolin thought, and he fell into a difficult situation of riding a tiger.
At that time, Li Dazhao's identity on the surface was that of a teacher at Peking University, a representative of the Kuomintang, a patriot, and a revolutionary. These identities, taken out alone, are very respectable.
Not to mention that all these auras were added to Li Dazhao alone. As a result, Li Dazhao at that time had a large number of fans in all walks of life.
Therefore, when the news of Li Dazhao's arrest came out, all sectors of society actively organized rescue. Zhang Shizhao, the former education chief of the Beiyang government, personally approached Yang Yuting and made a sincere lobbying, hoping that he could persuade Zhang Zuolin not to kill people because of his momentary intentions. Zhang Shizhao even said:
"Don't kill the soldiers of the country with a momentary intention, and leave a thousand notoriety!"
Zhang Shizhao
Teachers and students from various universities in Beijing also joined forces to put pressure on Zhang Zuolin and strongly demanded that he release Li Dazhao and other innocent revolutionaries!
At this point, Zhang Zuolin also felt that things were a bit big. If you lose the hearts and minds of the people because you killed Li Dazhao, you feel that it is a bit too much to lose. Moreover, at that time, Li Dazhao's identity in the open was still a representative of the Kuomintang, and his relationship with Dr. Sun Yat-sen was very good.
Sun Yat-sen
Zhang Zuolin also planned to negotiate peace with the approaching Northern Expeditionary Army, and if he killed Li Dazhao, it was likely to lead to the failure of the peace talks.
Such a recognition made Zhang Zuolin angry and ashamed: He was catching a hot potato!
But just like that, Li Dazhao was released, and Zhang Zuolin was not willing to do so. Therefore, Zhang Zuolin could only hope that he would use severe torture to crush Li Dazhao and make him submit to himself.
Not only that, Zhang Zuolin also hoped to dig out the CCP's liaison network in the northern region from Li Dazhao's mouth and completely destroy the CCP's intelligence network, so that he could sit back and relax from now on.
However, Zhang Zuolin's abacus was doomed to fail!
From the moment he was arrested, Li Dazhao understood that his hope of surviving was very slim, and Zhang Zuolin would not let him go. Therefore, he was already ready to dedicate himself to the revolution!
Li Dazhao, who was arrested and imprisoned, faced severe torture and endless interrogation every day. In order to let Li Dazhao reveal the secrets of our party and the revolution as soon as possible, he greeted Li Dazhao with all kinds of torture devices in prison.
However, Li Dazhao was a revolutionary with very strong revolutionary beliefs, so how could he betray his faith because of the suffering of the flesh and skin inflicted on him by the enemy? Therefore, no matter what means the enemy used, Li Dazhao never leaked half a secret.
However, Li Dazhao was originally a polite scholar. Days of torture severely destroyed his health, and soon his body could not support it. However, although Li Dazhao was scarred by the destruction and his body was extremely weak, his mental state was still very full.
Determined, he not only persisted in the struggle himself, but also encouraged the comrades who were imprisoned together to strengthen their faith and carry the revolution through to the end!
Zhang Zuolin had no tricks at this time, he caught not only a hot potato, but also a hard stone that was difficult to chew on!
There was no way, Zhang Zuolin had to send Li Dazhao and others to the so-called "court" for trial.
Li Dazhao stood in the middle of the courtroom with his body covered in scars and justice. He rightly and sternly listed the disasters brought to China by the great powers and various reactionary warlords. At the same time, he also expounded his revolutionary beliefs.
Li Dazhao has always firmly believed that some of his and his comrades' actions are for the salvation of the Chinese nation!
In the face of Li Dazhao's remarks, the "judge" sitting high at the top was speechless. He was sitting there in order to give Li Dazhao and the others any random crime, and to give a seemingly reasonable reason for the execution of this group of people. Not at all to give them a fair and just trial.
And Zhang Zuolin was also hesitating, because the Northern Expeditionary Army was a presence that he had to envy, so he could not make a decision for a long time.
But what Zhang Zuolin did not expect was that the last person who helped him make up his mind was Chiang Kai-shek, who was the commander-in-chief of the Northern Expedition! Because, in order to fully control the army of the Northern Expedition, Chiang Kai-shek kicked the Communist Party out of the ranks that shared the fruits of the victory of the Northern Expedition and launched the infamous "April 12 Counter-Revolutionary Coup"!
During this coup d'état, Chiang Kai-shek hunted down and killed Communists and some "pro-Communist" Kuomintang figures. Countless revolutionaries lost their lives in this coup, and the Chinese Communist Party suffered heavy losses due to the betrayal of its "allies."
Chiang Kai-shek's naked attitude made Zhang Zuolin see the "cattiness" in it. Therefore, Zhang Zuolin tentatively sent a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek, asking for opinions on the handling of Li Dazhao and others.
Chiang Kai-shek soon sent a telegram back to Zhang Zuolin, which said: Execute as soon as possible. This undoubtedly gave Zhang Zuolin a reassuring pill: the execution of Li Dazhao would not hinder the peace talks with the Northern Expeditionary Army!
Chiang Kai-shek
Therefore, Zhang Zuolin decided to temporarily set up a "special court" to try Li Dazhao and others, and then immediately execute the death penalty!
This so-called judgment is actually for the sake of going through the motions. Li Dazhao and other captured revolutionaries were sentenced to death after less than an hour of hasty trial and executed immediately!
Li Dazhao had long anticipated his final outcome. In the face of death, he only made a request to Zhang Zuolin: When executing, do not shoot.
Zhang Zuolin agreed. He also bought an advanced gallows specifically from a foreigner.
The gallows that exist in the museum
At one o'clock in the afternoon of April 28, 1927, Li Dazhao calmly walked to the gallows with infinite attachment to the Chinese nation...
Skynet was restored without leakage, and the truth of Li Dazhao's death was finally found out after 24 years!
In June 1951, the Public Security Bureau arrested an agent named Yan Zhenlang during an arrest operation. He once served Zhang Zuolin and participated in the arrest of Li Dazhao.
Soon, Yan Zhenlang spat out what he knew like a bamboo tube pouring beans. According to the clues he provided, the public security department quickly arrested Wu Yuwen, Lei Hengcheng, and others who also participated in the arrest of Li Dazhao.
At that time, it had been exactly 24 years since Li Dazhao's sacrifice. The truth about Li Dazhao's murder was finally revealed to the world!
Since the gallows were just bought at that time, this gallows had not been hanged before Li Dazhao. Li Dazhao was the first person.
Perhaps the executioner was unskilled and "trained his hands" with Li Dazhao; perhaps someone "above" specifically instructed Li Dazhao to implement the "three hangings execution method." In short, Li Dazhao's last moment was very painful.
In the process of execution, the deranged executioner first made Li Dazhao stand in the center of the gallows and pressed the switch. Li Dazhao was immediately hanged in mid-air by death.
Just as Li Dazhao was about to lose his breath, the executioner dragged him up and untied the rope. So that he can breathe evenly.
When Li Dazhao had a hard time slowing down, the group of executioners began to repeat the previous action: push Li Dazhao back onto the gallows, press the switch, and hang him in mid-air.
Such a tragic execution process, Li Dazhao experienced a total of three times! Each time, when he was about to catch his breath, the executioner put him down, and then waited for him to catch his breath and continued to repeat the previous action...
This inhumane execution lasted for 40 minutes!
It can be seen from this that Zhang Zuolin and his minions are so jealous of Li Dazhao!
And it is precisely because of the jealousy and ambition of these reactionaries that the great revolutionary pioneer Li Dazhao sacrificed his life at the age of 38!
However, it is precisely because our country has countless revolutionary martyrs like Li Dazhao that the Chinese nation can stand up completely!
