Recently, there are overseas media reports that smart's four-door pure electric model smart EQ forfour has officially stopped production, this car was officially launched in 2017, and was remodeled in 2019, and it cannot be booked since August 2021. Although the four-door version of the model was discontinued, the two-door version of the smart EQ fortwo model will not stop selling.
The production of smart EQ forfour is mainly to make way for smart genie #1, which is the first model since the joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, which is designed by Mercedes-Benz's global design department and engineering research and development by Geely Holdings' global R&D center. The new model will be produced at a new plant in China and is expected to start on the market this year and sell it worldwide.
Smart Genie #1 is based on Geely's SEA platform and is positioned as a pure electric compact SUV. In terms of power, smart genie #1 is expected to be driven by a rear single motor, with a maximum power of 200kw (272 horsepower), and foreign media speculate that the new car may also have a dual-motor four-wheel drive version of the model, as for the power battery capacity, mileage and other parameters are still unknown.
