Toyota has been working hard for decades to expand its operations in the U.S., selling more than GM by about 114,000 units for the full year of 2021. Toyota motor said tuesday that it will sell 2.3 million vehicles in the United States in 2021, an increase of about 10% from 2020, IT Home learned.

By contrast, GM said car sales fell nearly 13 percent to 2.2 million units in 2021 as chip shortages had a greater impact on its manufacturing operations, leading to fewer cars available to dealers to sell. For decades, GM has been the largest automaker in the United States by sales.
