The new AMG SL Roadster features the iconic long wheelbase, short front overhang and passenger compartment rearward design, with an extended hood, forward-leaning windshield and impactful rear, combining to create classic SL body proportions. AMG's signature waterfall racing grille design of 14 vertical trim strips reproduces the classic design of the 1952 300 SL legendary racing car, and the high bulging ribs on the hood are also a tribute to the originator of the SL. The body does not add any extra line modification, the alloy forged wheels are almost flush with the body, and with the hidden door handle, the sports car aesthetic style of fashion personality is outlined. The new AMG SL Roadster is equipped with aerodynamic components such as a large air intake, active grille and active adjustable rear wing, which perfectly balances low wind resistance with high downforce/low lift. The new Mercedes-AMG SL roadster features a newly designed 2+2 seating layout with a two-door four-seater styling that reinvents the classic while taking into account everyday travel needs.
The new car returns to the classic soft-topped design, with a Z-shaped foldable fabric and three layers of integrated acoustic cushion construction to create the comfort and tranquility of the cockpit. When the speed is below 60 km/h, the canopy can be opened and closed in 15 seconds. The cockpit features an avant-garde design concept called "Hyperanalogue", an all-digital instrument panel integrated with a three-dimensional visor, a central HD touchscreen that can be flexibly tilted from 12 degrees to 32 degrees to prevent glare, and an AIRSCARF head and neck heating system, as well as the second-generation MBUX and AMG TRACK PACE virtual track engineer in-vehicle applications.
The new car is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission, which can burst up to 585 hp of maximum power and 800 Nm of peak torque, and accelerate in just 3.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. AMG active drive control suspension with active hydraulic roll stabilization, AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system, and full-time all-wheel drive system plus (4MATIC+) and rear-wheel active steering for the first time on the SL model.
