Driving assistance is a highlight of the Xiaopeng P5, especially under the dual lidar, to achieve the city NGP function. Specifically, the Xiaopeng P5 has 32 sensors: a total of 2 HAP lidars on both sides of the front of the car, 5 millimeter wave radars (front 1, ring car 4), 12 ultrasonic radars, and 13 cameras on both sides of the vehicle.
At the same time, Xiaopeng P5 adopts the Xavier supercomputing platform, with a computing power of 30TOPS, and the information that can be processed and the scenes it can achieve will be richer. It can also be seen from the implementation of urban NGP functions (follow-up) that it has performed well in the field of automatic driving.
Upgrade capabilities
As a new product in the "Wei Xiaoli", the top three new forces of domestic car manufacturing, Xiaopeng P5 pays attention to cost performance, and at the same time, it also exerts the intelligence of the car to the fullest. Xiaopeng P5 supports vehicle OTA upgrades, and can upgrade common functions such as driving modules, body modules, and entertainment modules.
Unfortunately, since the listing on September 15, Xiaopeng P5 still cannot achieve the city NGP function, and the auxiliary driving function that can be achieved at present is the same as that of the P7, which is currently limited to high-speed NGP, and the city can realize the LCC function. But here to add, Xiaopeng P5's lidar is a full-speed domain working state, even the city LCC is also working. It is hoped that the follow-up OTA can open the city NGP as soon as possible.

Adaptive cruise test
Test conditions: The test car starts the adaptive cruise function at 80km/h, and sets the following distance to the second compartment. Then, during the driving process, the target vehicle will encounter non-emergency congestion in front, and then the target vehicle will slowly stop and start again after 10 seconds after stopping.
High-speed cornering is maintained
Test conditions: The test vehicle starts the adaptive cruise and lane keeping functions at 80km/h, and then the vehicle passes a curve to test the vehicle's lane-keeping ability at high speed.
Tunnel fixed obstacle vehicle identification and avoidance
Test conditions: A fixed target vehicle model is placed in the simulated tunnel, and the test vehicle starts cruising at a speed of 50knm/h and all driving assistance functions are close to see if the final test vehicle can avoid the target vehicle. The project of the tunnel fixed target vehicle is actually a simulation of the situation that when entering the tunnel during daily driving, there is a sudden stop in the tunnel. In this case, because the driver has a large contrast in light inside and outside the tunnel, there is a high probability that the car stopped in the tunnel will not be found in time, which will eventually lead to a rear-end accident. If the vehicle's driver assistance system can avoid this type of obstacle car, it will give the occupants an extra guarantee.

Automatic parking
The automatic parking process is divided into three parts, including the side orientation, the side orientation with obstacles, and the vertical parking space. Xiaopeng P5's automatic parking interface is clear and simple logic, you only need to press the parking button in the lower left corner of the central control screen, you can enter the state of finding a parking space, and the identification process is relatively fast. The identified parking space will also be displayed on the screen, after confirming the selection, you can enter the automatic parking, no need to control the subsequent process, including direction, throttle, brake, gear, etc., completely handed over to the vehicle is finished.

In the open road high-speed test, we turned on NGP automatic navigation assisted driving, so the conventional LCC function, including adaptive endurance to follow the car, lane center holding function experience is great, with the car speed is stable, the vehicle is stable in the middle of the lane, the experience is quite good, here is not specific to say. Here we focus on the performance of the Xiaopeng P5 high-speed NGP.
In the case of NGP opening, Xiaopeng P5 performed well in automatic overtaking and automatic lane change, changed lanes decisively, and grasped the timing well. When encountering a slow car in front of you that needs to change lanes to overtake, it will automatically speed up during the overtaking period, and at the same time, there will be corresponding reminders such as coming from behind the car, changing lanes, and paying attention to the takeover after XX meters, etc. The experience is still relatively in place and intimate. Even within the tunnel, NGP works fine, but during the test, some sections of the road will have a brief exit of the NGP function due to the lack of high-definition maps. In addition, in the case of large traffic, the NGP is indeed no one to drive so efficiently, the test day of the traffic flow is large, the opportunity to change lanes is not much, and eventually will lose the opportunity to change lanes, reminding the manual takeover.
In the performance of high-speed ramp entry and exit, the performance of Xiaopeng P5 is still in line with expectations, and the speed of entering the ramp will be controlled at 40km/h. In the case of small traffic, about 2 kilometers before the ramp begins to change to the rightmost lane, and the process of entering and leaving the ramp is also more anthropomorphic and does not give people too much oppression. When encountering a large curvature bend, the system reminds you to hold the steering wheel in your hand to complete the turn. Of course, the above-mentioned auxiliary driving functions have not yet fully reflected the strength of software and hardware (such as lidar). Judging from the currently exposed urban NGP test video, the Xiaopeng P5 can drive according to the navigation route, and can automatically identify traffic light turns, detour vehicles, roundabouts and unprotected steering during the process.
It can be clearly felt that the Xiaopeng P5 intelligent auxiliary driving system is still relatively powerful, which can meet the needs of urban travel to release energy, and assist drivers to drive safely to a certain extent. We also look forward to the optimization of the official version of Xiaopeng P5 in the future, and then test how far the city NGP can be.

Xiaopeng P5 supports full-scene voice interaction, the voice assistant "Little P" can provide a lower learning cost human-computer interaction experience for the drivers and occupants of the whole car, support continuous dialogue, up to 120 seconds; visible can be said, no need to remember the command keywords, the function within the interface, directly look at the picture to speak can be recognized; semantic interruption, you can say new instructions at any time, do not wait for the small P to finish; the two-tone area is locked, who wakes up to only listen to whose, will not mistakenly identify the words of others.
In these four routine function tests, Xiao P said that it was a piece of cake, and simply Li Suo did it. In fact, there are many functions that the little P can control, and it can greatly avoid the driver from reaching out to touch the screen during the driving process.
Although Xiaopeng P5 has a powerful speech system, the reading speed and action response speed of the language are quite fast, but there are relatively high requirements for the pronunciation accuracy of the language order input, and the three fixed pronunciation deviations of the language order are only successfully recognized by the sentence "Navigating to the Bund".
Xiaopeng P5 can recognize "I'm hot" and "a little cold" such as "I am a little cold" and other vague meanings without direct function pointing; in the composite semantic recognition within the map function, its recognition ability is weak, "help me find the nearby Xiao Yang Sheng fry" This sentence, which is successful in most models, it failed. However, the Xiaopeng P5 is also one of the few models that can perform cross-functional compound language commands, and the phrase "lower the temperature and open the sub-driving window" can be successfully achieved.
Intelligent advanced requirements
In addition to the hardware and easy to use software, the cockpit of Xiaopeng P5 has also spent a lot of thought on other intelligent configurations, so it has passed a full score in the part of intelligent advanced requirements!
In addition, the in-vehicle system also supports remote OTA, which can realize the whole life cycle of the vehicle OTA. After being bound by the mobile phone, the owner can also remotely control the door lock, air conditioning, etc. of the car, and use the key to remotely control the direct parking outside the car. As for the level of information richness of driver assistance, the full LCD instrument screen on the car provides rich and vivid hints. In general, Xiaopeng P5 performs quite well in intelligent advanced functions.
Performance testing

Elk test
The purpose of the elk test is to test the vehicle's ability to avoid danger, test the vehicle suspension and dynamic adjustment skills. In our elk test, the default electronic system state is turned on (not manually turned off ESP, etc.) to restore the daily car situation as much as possible.
When the Xiaopeng P5 was tested, it passed the maximum speed of 76km/h, and the results were excellent. Although the P5's suspension spring is soft, its suspension damping provides enough toughness, P5 in the emergency change of direction, the shock absorber against the body roll, so that the tire has more grip to maintain the body driving posture, out of the corner the rear wheel has a significant sliding attitude, but the electronic system intervenes, so that the P5 can maintain a follow-out corner.
Winding test
The pile winding test was carried out at a standard speed of 60km/h to test the maneuverability of the Xiaopeng P5. The Xiaopeng P5 itself is not large in size, and it does not need too much steering in terms of piles. During the process of winding the pile, you can see the stability of the P5 chassis, and the body roll during the pile has little effect on the stability of the vehicle's steering, but for the driver, the steering wheel is far away and it is more inconvenient to control.
Noise test
In the in-vehicle noise test, our main test is the vehicle's sound insulation ability. In addition to testing the in-car noise values of pure electric models in four states: stationary, 60km/h cruising, 90km/h cruising, and 120km/h cruising, the noise outside the vehicle is also recorded and compared with the in-car noise values in the idle state. As the latest model of Xiaopeng, the P5 has excellent performance in external noise isolation at rest, and the road noise in the driving state is slightly obvious compared to the sound insulation of the whole vehicle, but it is also an excellent model in the same level.
Summary of the performance section
Xiaopeng P5 does not have the rage that electric vehicles should have in terms of acceleration, the overall adjustment bias is soft, the starting tires are not skidding, the initial acceleration will not make people feel too pully, and the speed after 60km/h is relatively smooth, but the staying power is slightly insufficient. In terms of braking, Xiaopeng P5 achieved decent results, but in terms of brake body stability - P5 is well controlled, and the rear of the car is slightly shaken. In the elk and pile winding test, the Xiaopeng P5 seems to be exaggerated, but the tracking is good, and the handling in the car is relatively safe.

As the first mass production car equipped with lidar, the Xiaopeng P5 is indeed an epoch-making product, but there are not many places where lidar can play at present. In this ICT-300 intelligent test, the NGP function is eye-catching, and the intelligent driving is relatively mature.
Overall, Xiaopeng P5 has done a good job in focusing on "intelligent driving" and "intelligent interaction".
